Scout has his speed at 4.5. Listen, I remember B.James and Trev Faulk and some saying they weren't "big enough" for the SEC. Bullshi*! Highsmith also didn't run a blazing 40 and it was good enough for him to make an NFL roster.

My little brother is a classmate of Welter and is a starter on ND's offense this year. Welter has been to my mom's house several times with him.

This kid is a true blooded Tiger all the way. He is a great athlete, but whether or not he is "elite" is yet to be seen. I do, however, think he has the potential to be very, very solid despite not being a freak of nature on the football field.

My favorite thing about him is that he is a die hard Tiger. I think this "heart" aspect is often underestimated.

we want a little heart in players with talent

But we don't want a little talent in players with heart

there are a lot of Rudys out there who dream about being Tigers...but can they tackle Darren McFadden is the question I want to know

high-round NFL draft picks are not Rudys, but the Jacob Cutreras of the world who get shaken out of their boots by every SEC tailback are

He is ranked #5 player in the state on Dandy Dons list and his last season rankings seemed pretty accurate. So just off that and the fact the coaches offered him so early says to me that he has to have not only SEC level talent, but more importantly, LSU level talent.

From what I gather from the scouts who have seen him, he "has a great motor".

The kid has yet to play a down at LSU. We'll talk about it again in a few years when he actually has some in game college performance to go off.

If I am wrong then I will admit it. End of story.

I know that.

I'm saying I've met DJ and I've seen him play, and I think he's got both.

He isn't a FREAK athlete that's going to be one of the nation's top prospects, but that doesn't mean he's Jacob Cutrera.

I would be willing to bet that most NFL linebackers (and high-impact SEC linebackers, for that matter) weren't Jelani Jenkins type recruits.

I'm just saying that I think someone with heart has the POTENTIAL to work harder in the gym, care more about the outcome of a game (not that the freak athlete's don't care...you know what I mean), and have more vested interest in the success of LSU rather than the success of their draft stock.

Is he a legit 6'1"? or is that exagerated a couple inches. 6'1" is not a smallish inside LB if he gets up to 235-240. If he is really 5'11" -6' then yeah I would put him in that catagory.

I have become accustomed to ones who cant, that's for sure

plus, why are you bringing Safetys into this? LSU has clearly had a deficiency at the LB positions ..we usually have plenty of talent at Safety and are fine in that department

our LBs should be our run stoppers, not our Safetys
