Watkins is not coming to LSU. Smith did great. He will be a stud once he puts on weight.

Rivals is reporting Smith looked bad. I'm no rivals guy by far but people do read them and their rankings are part of the composite.

The Tiger pledge that did show up, Cole Smith, struggled all week. He was overpowered relatively easily by elite prospects and didn’t move quickly enough to make up for his lack of size. Smith will need to add considerable size before being ready to produce at LSU.

Well, IDK what he did during practice, but during the game he was blocking everybody in front of him. The only thing he looked bad on in the game was his shotgun snaps. A little low sometimes, but other than that, he always had good position on his blocks. It doesn't surprise me he'd get pushed back, esp giving up close to a hundred pounds, but his technique was excellent, always between the runner and the tackler. And that is what you need in a player. Once he adds weight, he won't get pushed around. These so called experts who are judging these kids has no earthly idea what to look for in a player. I honestly believe they rate these kids strictly on offers and don't watch a lick of film to judge for their self. If a coach finds a kid who is off the charts good, does anybody really believe they will tell these recruiting services about him? Hell no! They want to keep the kid a secret so there's no competition recruiting him.

Maybe rivals but I know that 247 guys watch film, sometimes they will play a prospects film while they are talking about them.

I thin kthis was during drills all week. Yes, he was losing reps to a guy who was 100 pounds heavier than him, big deal...it's an isolated drill where a kid 370 pounds can shine, but can he do that all game? Hell no.

If anyone watched the game, Smith was one of the best linemen out there. Got CONSISTENT push in the run game and was solid in pass protection. He helped spring some nice run plays.

The only knock on him is size. He's listed 6'4 275ish, and he may be there right now, but definitely looks a little slim.

I would also like to say, despite supposedly sucking all week in drills, he was the 1st team center for Team Highlight when they took the field.

Some players aren't good at 1 on 1 in practice. Being a center he shouldn't be expected too. I thought he did just fine during the game.

Yep. Don't worry about Cole Smith. He will come in at 6'4 280, will redshirt and by the time he is ready to play which will probably be his sophomore year he will be at 300. He will be a good one!
