re: Tyrann Mathieu.... Who is responsible for getting him on board?

He played WR for St. Aug also during his senior year.
I officiated that St. Aug vs Thibodaux game during the end of the year, he was outstanding.
This was Reed's first game back from his knee injury and the show he and Mathieu put on was unbelievable.
At the end of the game, Reed was covering Tyrann when St. Aug was on offense, and Tyrann was spying on Reed when Thib. was on offense.
2 special players with Reed getting the better of him that night, only by a margin.

UT Fans were in an uproar that they did't offer, because he was coming to BR next and would likely get offered .
Kiffin was probably holding out on the offer because he knew he was leaving and wanted him at USC

Tons of rantards came on here bashing Miles for taking him.
Then he blew up a Tennessee camp and became known as "The Truth" and everyone shut up.
I thought he went to the UT camp first and blew up, then came to LSU and blew up and Les offered?

I think you are right, maybe it was that his offer was out before that and people were bitching that we offered an undersized DB with no major offers.
Regardless, the rant was once again, wrong.

Think about it. Half of the crowd either flips out b/c we offer a 2-3*, the other half claims that every single 2-3* we offer is a big time sleeper and will be all SEC before he leaves LSU

He said I love LSU but I'm only a 3 star and the Rant will go crazy about Coach Miles passing up 4 star recruits from across the country that really dont care about LSU.
I told him just commit if you love this program and once you show what you got the Rant will start praising you once they see you play, the same idiots that said you're just a 3 star that cant play.
Well...it could have happened...well part of it did

.. I recall reading - here on The Rant and elsewhere - about his jaw dropping performances at several camps , including LSU's .. seems he ruled at the camps and impressed a lot more coaches than just CLM .. glad we got him ...

He is ruling the field as a true freshman to.

camp this summer and Les offered him on the spot.
Les. +1
and Tyrann was not highly rated at the time of the selection.

He had just blown up the UT camp, and did the same at LSU's camp. Not hating on Les, but offering TM was pretty much a no-brainer.

I have to wonder if Raven would have done the same thing if he hadnt been injured

Did he really explode at a UT camp?

From what I remember... he wasn't on our radar at all. (By Our, I mean recruiting board) Then he gets an offer and commits. Rantards lose their shite! People said they heard he had an awesome camp and that's why Miles offered him. Rantards continue losing their shite saying we shouldn't offer every D. Blackmon who has a good camp. Then we found out he had an offer from Tenn because he had a good camp their too. Rantards lose shite to a lesser degree. Then he gets re-evaluated by rivals, ends up in the Rivals250 and Rantards can't wait to praise him and say how his talent will be lost because Miles can't coach him up.
LOL This.

buy low, sell high
i'm not sure i'd sell though. he's looking like a stud as a freshman.. where is he gonna be in 2 years?

i don't care who he was, or where he came from. He just might be the best raw talent i have ever seen. He is exciting as hell to watch. And him having 3 tackles on special teams should tell you how good he really is, since the 11 best players are on the field. same with mo claiborne
And the whole time everyone thought miles favors seniority over talent
