The below are impressive numbers.
Any body ever see this kid play?
Morris Claiborne
ATH 6-0 180 Fair Park
LSU commitment
Played quarterback in Fair Park’s spread offense as a senior after earning all-district honors as a receiver and defensive back his first three seasons. ... Passed for 1,012 yards and rushed for 1,009 more, leading the Indians to their first playoff appearance in 13 years. ... Earned all-state honors in basketball as a sophomore. ... Runs the 40 in 4.45 seconds. ... Part of a Fair Park lineage that includes former Super Dozen pick Ronnie Prude (2001), as well as Reggie Robinson and Wendell Davis.

sleeper of the class IMO.

well, shite, he better be the fricking sleeper of the class
he's an ATH nobody knew about and we took him in a numbers-restricted year... he better be a sleeper
ATHs around 6' 180ish lbs. who run in the 4.45 range ..where we recruit along the gulf coast from Texas to Florida those are a dime a dozen
we better have seen something we like to distinguish him from the rest and make him a "sleeper"

Watched him alot, he's the real deal.

Where do yall see him on the depth chart. He's talented but where do we put him and behind who.
Posted on 1/25/09 at 9:49 am to tigerbill002
I wouldn't necessarily call someone who rushes and passes for over 1000 yards and scores 30 tds on a shitty team dime a dozen.
IMO he's a good pickup. Noone knew who chevis jackson was when he committed.

hey idiot..you dont find an ath who leads a team with no talent into playoffs or close to playoffs. go..your dad is looking out for you.

he dominated a fairly weak district in Shreveport... not uncommon
and again, he was effective at a position he will not be playing in college, so it's a total projection anyway with him
from Texas to south Florida, these ATHs really are plentiful ...I trust McCarthy/Miles because I like 99% of the playmakers they recruit, but it is very fair to be intrigued about what the staff saw in this kid for them to extend an offer... I'd just like to know, I'm not saying that negatively

I live in Florida and am at a different stadium most Friday nights in the fall, and I played and kept up with La. high school football at the highest level... I see guys who are in the Morris Claiborne mold regularly
I can understand why you wouldn't know anything about that living up in Jersey

Don't quite understand this post. Not about his measureables, if you watch his film you can see he has amazing potential. Why the hell do some of you people on here act like beyotches needing midol? Noticed a few of you just post to be antagonistic and rarely add anything.
Think this kid will be a winner. Very athletic and moves well in open field.

I see that "potential" regularly by ATHs in his mold..thats sort of the point
again, I never said he would suck ..just said I'd be intrigued by what the coaches liked about this under-the-radar kid that nobody else did

so do about 200 other kids around 6' 180 lbs. from TX to FL ...I watched about 6-8 of them in the state title games in the Citrus Bowl last month alone

a couple of scenarios:
- he gets converted to CB, which is the most likely scenario... he does appear to have good speed and hips, and prototypical size for he position
- perhaps he is a return guy or a gadget player... perhaps Wooten's replacement in this class
Posted on 1/25/09 at 11:15 am to tigerbill002
I think most were assuming he would be a CB when he signed, but we are pretty stacked there. Maybe a slot receiver? He'll redshirt I think.
Posted on 1/25/09 at 11:25 am to Cussian
I don't see any way he won't redshirt
the kid is a mystery from the standpoint that he was so much under the radar and not heavily recruited and could project in several areas at the next level and nobody knows exactly what the staff has in mind for him and what they saw in this kid to extend him an offer out of the blue
it is intriguing and I would just like to know, which is the point to my posts in this thread
at least with a guy like Williford, for example, he showed some promise at camp that coaches felt like they could take his great size and frame and turn him into a solid OL
with a no-name guy like Claiborne who is a ATH, who knows what coaches saw in him and want out of him

Maybe they see leadership, perserverence, or some other intangible traits that sets him apart from the kids with his athletic abilities.?

CB all the way. He has good feet, hips, balance, and a smooth acceleration. In other words, he has the ability not to trip over himself when a receiver makes a cut and is able to quickly get back up to full speed. He is a very smooth and fluid player.
Posted on 1/25/09 at 1:42 pm to Peachtree Tiger
I've seen him. He's nasty, and makes everyone else look like their stuck in sand.
Posted on 1/25/09 at 1:45 pm to SteveLSU35
Have a question. When a kid like this stays under the radar for so long, what contributes to this? I mean was it the coaches not sending any tapes out? Our did he just have a great senior year? I don't get how someone so talented could be overlooked.

I was looking at a Athlon Sports Mag. awhile ago most of the time these 5* and 4* guys don't even cut it when they get to school you need the no-name guys that are hungry and want to show people they deserve the scholarship they are given not just talking to support the guy I have seen film on the Kid he has talent.
