The "U" falling apart?

With Bridgewater de-committing, the U has only 4 committments for 2011. Are they making a huge mistake by not hiring a coach quickly? ESPN rumor said they cancelled an official visit for a group of recruits. Could this mean even darker days for the U?

It's all about the U SWAGGA

Well, the longer they wait, the worse it gets. They still have plenty of time though.

With them missing on Gruden and Mullen, I don't really see another guy that could come in and make Bridgewater want to stay because of the hire. Florida State is the one benefiting the most from this with having their best year in awhile as Miami AND Florida went way south

I doubt it. When you have a feeder school like Miami Northwestern you will always get about 2-3 studs from them alone. South Florida is their stomping grounds. The will get a decent class this year. But I do agree that the coaching change is hurting them greatly.

I think they can pull it together if they make a good hire, but with only 4 commits as of now, it could be disaster if they get passed on by alot of big name coaches.

Have been for a few years......Jimbo is doing well in the state.....

It is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too early to say they are falling apart. With the right hire and yes there is still time, they will pull in another good recruiting class.
However, I would personally love to see them wait until after signing day to hire a coach and to see one or two of those recruits to wind up at LSU.

Too much talent in the state....

If they make the right hire, they will be fine. 4 head coaches have won NC while at Miami. I found this statistic in a CNNSi.com's story about what a gold mine job South Florida is...
Consider this. In the past six years, the state of Florida has produced 1,186 BCS conference signees. In last year's SI.com study of how location affects recruiting and on-field success, we found that programs that can draw players from within 200 miles from campus have a prohibitive advantage over schools that cannot. So guess how many players from within 200 miles of USF's campus signed with a big-six conference team or with Notre Dame in the past six years? Nine hundred nineteen.
If you need to look away, wipe your eyes and look again to make sure that number is correct, go ahead. It's still 919. That means the 200-mile radius surrounding USF produces an average of 153 BCS-conference caliber players a year. Schools can only bring in 25 a year, so even if Florida, Florida State and Miami take their pick, USF still has three signing classes worth of players from which to choose. And if the new coach can win a conference title or two, it won't be a given that a recruit will choose one of the other three over USF.

The problem is, at this point there is no likely candidate that could be called "the right hire".
The U will be forced to hire either an FCS coach or an assistant from the pro's or college ranks.

If you have choices, I don't see why anyone would want to go there right now.

Falling apart???? The are a shaddow of what they used to be!!!! When was the last time they played in a BCS game???? ESPN hyped them up so much before the season started. Some predicted them to be in NC game!!!! I think they are in a spiral down but I think it has started a while back. I don't hate the "U" but to me people make them out to be so much more that they are. Kind of like a Notre Dame!!!!

They had to, something about a prisoner to guard ratio.
