even RBs.

Meh, Tate is a good runningback. Fannin is also a beast. Eric Smith has some real potential. They have an awful supporting cast on offense so that is likely to get masked.

That's cool, Lsu played Auburn last year after the Miss ST game that ended 3-2. EVERY SINGLE LSU fan predicted a blowout. Didnt happen

the year before that, LSU fans predicted a blowout, didnt happen, I doubt u will blow us out this year

Unfortunately for AU, Malzahn will be moving his Tulsa offense again in a year or two. I think he is going to be a solid OC for a year or two more and that's about it.

Tate is solid, but he's not a guy who is going to hit it hard up inside the way someone like Charles Scott does. Nor does he have blazing speed. Plus, you have no blocking FB and no strong blocking TEs.

I really think the reason Tubs went to the spread last year is bc he forgot to recruit the personnel that you need to be a great running team, so it was a last ditch resort to have a decent offense. I really don't think AU even had the talent to be a decent offense last year with a traditional offense, though I guess it would have been a little better.

Fannin is good bc he is versatile, but he's not a great pure runner either.

Agreed, he'll be a HC in two years. That's why Trooper Taylor said he's been 'stealing' Malzahn's offense when Taylor was at Okie St.

Troop Taylor will be our next OC running Malzahn's offense....

I didn't predict anything last year bc we had Malveto as D-coordinator and were starting freakin' Andrew Hatch at QB. Now we have a proven DC, and a really talented QB.

It's wise to have a plan but Trooper is no Malzahn and he won't worry anyone as an OC.

Besides, we LSU fans are no longer impressed with the concept of promoting from within to maintain the scheme. Been there, done that.

We haven't had a good offense since 2005.

And Tate can absolutely "hit it hard inside".

You really think Tate is a top caliber RB? He's good and solid, but I don't see him as a difference maker. Do you?

I never, at any point, claimed Tate was a top caliber RB. He is a good runningback however, and I really don't see how our RB position is a question mark.

I mean, we have a plethora of question marks, but thankfully runningback is not one of them.

I agree. I'm just saying that he's nothing that can really dominate a game for you either. I don't think he can do what Charles Scott did in the second half of the Auburn game last year, or even what Coffee/Ingram did for Bama. He's a solid player though.

If he's a solid player then how is our RB position a question mark?

Malzahn's Tulsa offense gained almost TWICE as many yds against Arky than LSU did against Arky

sounds like the bragging we heard about what franklin's troy team did against UGA in 2007

IMO, the RB position is the least of our worries. Fannin/Tate is a solid duo

I had almost forgotten about that. Yes, I remember that being a key argument when people brought up how "Sun Belt =/= SEC".

Not saying he himself is a question mark. Just saying that having a strong power running game is questionable for AU when you also consider the lack of blocking that he'll be getting.

I'm not even saying your starting OL is bad (as you've said, the depth is the problem), but it's not great either. So when you add that up, I don't see a running game that is going to scare people either. But if Tate were a total badass like some of your past RBs, maybe it would scare people.

Just responding to your notion that Gus' offense wouldnt be good against SEC defenses

Franklin's offense never had a chance. He wasnt allowed to bring in his own coaching staff. So we had a spread OC with assistant coaches that taught smash mouth football their entire career.

Recipe for disaster.

I dont know what Lache Seastrunk will do, but the meltdown on this board will be beyond epic if he does eventually commit to Auburn

and the biggest problem was lack of talent, especially for that offense. nothing has changed to help malzhan
