Simple answer. Lawson was one of LSU's first commitments for 2013. He shut down his recruitment, took no other visits,etc. and LSU has backed out on him. There is nothing binding on a grey shirt offer. If LSU stuck it to him a week before signing day, why should he be confident they won't stick him again in January after he sits out of school OR pays his own way for a semester?
Pass me a pair of those purple and gold glasses that you are wearing. This situation MUST look better when you are looking through them.

dude, if hes good, he will have NO problems picking up an offer from someone else. so this raises flags to me...
miss state, arkansas, tcu, tennessee just to name a few all have room and a need for that position. they would take him in a heart beat if there are no clearinghouse issues

I can promise I have more information than you do. I'm just trying to defend the kid while all these "experts" question his academic issues.
Like I said earlier, had LSU cooled on him due to talent...fine. But give him a heads up instead of pushing his official visit back (which LSU did) and leaving him a week to find option B.

i get what youre saying, but a week is a long time in recruiting...he will find somewhere to play. i hate if for the kid but i can look at this through my p and g glasses or as i like to call it "objectively" because i have no emotional ties to the kid like you do. im sorry it happened but he will be fine where ever he ends up

Agree. This is why I quit posting last night. I got my information first hand from somebody that handles Tevins recruitment and its a situation where they feel like he is getting pushed out. His family can't afford a semester at lsu and on top of that defensive line is one area where you can't afford to miss a season. You get passed up quick on the depth chart.

These kind of situations are always shitty.
IT was shitty when we did it to Elliot Porter and it's shitty now.
But we also aren't the only ones who do it. That doesn't make it any less shitty. But does at least let us LSU fans have a nice "okay, we're not the only shitty ones" feeling.

Shitty move by LSU staff! kid was on board from day one, and is a solid 4 star prospect! At the very least lsu should have been honest with him and not wait until after his official to tell him!!!

they can and i also have heard of people helping out financially if the kid really wants it
