Maybe he agreed to be on scholarship this season and walkon his sr year.

Maybe we have no choice but to play similar to Marquette last year.

The Jones hiring probably helped with Hammink, but he was almost assuredly coming here too.
So, to break it down, Jones has signed Swilling.
Before everyone interprets my analysis as "propping up" TJ or "downgrading" CJJ, I love CJJ's aggressiveness in the 2013 class, particularly in Texas. It's a state I feel we've never fully exploited in basketball for some reason.
I've accused you of that before but I agree with you here. Unless we've got two guards transferring out I don't get this one. That's an awful lot of 2's on the roster right now. Perhaps Jones wants Hammink to redshirt and wants another body ready for next year.

I feel confident this is the case. If we need your scholarship next year, you're a walkon.

I'd be comfortable with this. I know people are shitting on Ralston on here but I'd like to see him in a new system and out of his slump. He's a better player than he has shown I THINK

Dog trust me that this kid can score period! He definitely shot lights out against us in HS. Good pickup IMO. To run this philosophy that Jones wants to employ you got to have a bunch of guards or some big men that can get up and down the floor.

check up on his college stats. They are MEH to say the least.

some big men
I wish we'd save some spots for DJ from Scotlandville, Bridgewater, Martin etc. instead of taking kids who frankly I don't quite think are SEC caliber but we will see.

Johnny will not be turning away top recruits for lack of scholarships. This will all work out. He knows he needs to win quick and build momentum for the big recruiting classes coming up. The scholarships will be there. They always are. New coach, new system, new style, players will transfer.
I think Swilling is being recruited as a combo guard to help as a backup PG.

The rantards should love him. From what I remember he was critical of Miles and ripped the LSU football program off and on last year (though he said he had friends on the team). He thought Miles shouldn't have suspended JJ even though common sense dictated otherwise.
He should fit right in here at self loathing LSU. I personally don't like the kid at all.

Who cares what a basketball player who, at the time, was not an LSU student or potential recruit, said about our football coach? I don't.
LSU fans said much worse, and continue to do so.

i believe one maybe 2 guys will be heading out the door.
not a big swilling fan but he seems like a popular guy in new orleans. if they are taking him it's for a good reason.

Why is this a fact when he could have been committed to LSU?
The Jones hiring probably helped with Hammink, but he was almost assuredly coming here too.
I just don't understand how u can us assuredly when these kids could have been committed.

maybe Stringer sees the writing on the wall and is peacing out? I know a lot of people are down on Ralston but I'd really like to not lose him yet.
Posted on 4/26/12 at 9:32 am to Elleshoe
To me, the Swilling commitment points to Stringer more than anyone else.
Posted on 4/26/12 at 9:37 am to Elleshoe
i think it's stringer and isaac. maybe turner.

I'd get rid of as many of Trents guys as I could not named Hickey or Obryant if I were Jones.
Posted on 4/26/12 at 9:48 am to Elleshoe
What people seem to be forgetting is that, outside of Hickey, our guards were terrible last season. Johnny's job is to upgrade every position.
