It’s also entirely possible he got a lot more chase outside of the zone in HS than he did in college, or that his stuff in the zone was getting hit harder by college guys than it did last year in high school causing him to nibble more.
Yepper on both counts.

Both of these are facts. However, it is also true that he wasn't himself mechanically, and not voluntarily. It remains to be seen what becomes of him. I still stand by taking a flier on him, but not going crazy about getting him here.

Agreed. I’m trying to find video of him to compare but I watched him pitch twice this year and I thought he was hurt at first because he looked different than he did pitching in high school. That’s when I learned about their pitching coach who tinkers with everyone’s mechanics apparently.
State fan said it works more times than not but why mess with something if it works?
I’d be ecstatic to have him and let kelly work with him. His fastball was noticeably slower and didn’t have the movement he had in HS. He couldn’t locate very well when it had the normal movement and when he could locate it it would come out flat and high 80’s. Basically tossing meatballs. I think he’ll be a huge get. One year (hopefully) to get his mechanics back to HS form and to build his confidence back as well as get his body right. Very interesting stuff 777.

PS for those saying we didn’t recruit him you’re half right. We recruited him much harder later on in high school and then backed off once Jack said he valued state’s loyalty. State recruited him hard since his freshman season and Jack is a great kid. Would be a hell of a teammate at the least.

Hopefully if he comes home, change of scenery and coaching up will help. I’m just thinking if he couldn’t leave a mark on Miss St pitching staff this year, not a good sign, MooSt was sorta weak. A Freshman Ace should’ve made at least a whimper on that team.
