So now that Watkins delayed his commitment

And he has said Alabama is out... I know that Florida is the front runner but he is yet to visit the campus with Mullen as head coach and he still maintains LSU is in it. Can LSU still end up with Watkins if Chase leaves them hanging? Honest question here, or Is LSU all in on Chase with Keys as the back up plan and Watkins is now out regardless?

Watkins delayed so he could go on some more officials mainly to UF. I also think it's not far off that if we miss on Chase he could creep back into this class. Its all about timing.

The class is gonna be
Chase
Surtain
Joseph
Goodrich
If Chase does bolt, then yeah, Watkins gets his spot in the final four

He gets his spot, but does he take it? If not, probably gonna be Michael Williams.

I find it encouraging that Jimmy (NOLA.com) and Sam (SECcountry) are in agreement with last 4 spots being Surtain, Chase, Joseph and Goodrich. The 247 CBs seem to line up w that as well. Don’t have pay subscription, so I’m not sure if Sonny, Tub, and/or Shea have any additional insight.

Those 4 seem to be the consensus and everyone seems fairly confident in them. Least confident in Chase but lately there's been much more to feel good about. Most confident in Joseph, with Surtain and then Goodrich not far behind.

Yes, but I don't think that's how it works, though. It's a hard cap of 25 every year.

This is true. But you can still count guys who enroll in the spring semester toward either the current academic year or the next academic year.
The SEC has had a 25 player hard cap since 2011, when they voted to reduce the limit 28 to 25. Saban made a big stink about it at the time.

ESTIN, Fla. -- The SEC approved today several proposals attempting to crack down on oversigning in football, including reducing the annual signing limit from 28 to 25. The contentious debate dominated conversation at SEC spring meetings this week. Football coaches voted unanimously earlier in the week to keep the signing cap at 28, but their presidents and chancellors went against them. Many football coaches wanted to keep the status quo to have flexibility in oversigning players, a practice that can lead to players being cut or left without a promised scholarship.
The main thing that changed as far as SEC schools are concerned is how guys are counted. Previously, if you signed a guy who didn't end up qualifying, he would never count as an initial counter for that year. Giving you the option of signing another guy later in the year, taking in a transfer, or using that spot to "back count" a spring enrollee from the next class. Now, once they sign anything (LOI, financial aid agreement, etc), they count. This is why we're not taking any academic risks this year.

I really don't understand why this board is so confident Chase ends up here. He doesn't even know who his OC will be next year...how the hell could a WR that good commit to LSU? He must really love the program. I ain't going to complain but it's a legit question.

Ask Terrace Marshall...

Maybe he’s been told more about the situation than the Rant and is okay with it.

I hope they end up with both Watkins and Chase.

I'm confident in this at about 95% at this point, with Chase being the only one with any significant doubt.
