Well ESJ isn't exactly the most value oriented school in LA. RP may be an idiot, but if you grow up around unproductive, idiotic people, you have a better change of going down that route than making a change.

RP was the best QB in Louisiana in recent memory, even better than Brock when he was at Evangel. It sucks that he played for a bad coach and had such a bad mentality. This guy could've really been something special.

RP was the best dual threat QB, but he wasn't a better passer than Berlin. Berlin was unbelievable in high school. He was so good in high school that starting some at Florida and starting 2 years at Miami before they sucked and not winning a NC meant he sucked. The expectations were just way too high for him. In fact they were just too much for both of them.

Think that was against Evangel. He also had 2-3 picks in that game and I think 1 or 2 were pick 6's. Ridiculous talent, shitty attitude.

RP's overall productiveness was just off the charts though, which puts him ahead for me. He wasn't some unreal speedster like Shep is, but he was so crafty with his running. His open field moves were just so good that it seemed unlikely that he'd be such a good passer as well, but he was. Like you said, he even played well on defense. The guy was incredible playing in that stout district. I wonder what he would've done at Evangel, or what Brock would've done at ESJ? RP's talent just seems universal. I don't think there's a more dangerous weapon in football than a good dual threat QB.

First of kid is a ridiculous talent(as we all know). He has the potential to be a at least a poor man's Randall Cunningham.

BUT...

I will say his footwork looked great but his throwing mechanics need some work. He sorta side arms it sometimes. You can see there is too much space between the ball and his helmet as he throws the ball. Of course that's fixable. His long ball looked great and his decision making was superb. Anyone who believes he will never play QB for LSU is sadly mistaken. He will mosly likely spend time coming in at QB next year at times and may even line up at WR for a trick play or two.

What kind of yardage did he get running the ball last night?

Thats cause he is probably better than RP. And thats saying alot.

Not even close. You realllllyy need to go back and look at what RP did in high school. I have never seen anything like it. I think he had some 3500 passing yards and 1500-2000 rush yards his senior season, and his junior year was about the same. RP was gold. Shepard is way beyond RP in terms of character and maturity.

But that's what we're so excited about...his future at LSU. We're not concerned with IF he had 1, or even 2 "off" games. The athleticism and maturity this kid possesses for a HS athlete is uncanny. That's the thing, it's not just against 1 bad team; he's been doing this for 2 years now. Even Peyton M. has "bad" days. Just take his overall "work" and potential into consideration when talking about this young man. He has not yet even reached his full potential. THAT is the scary part (for opposing teams.)

and especially don't blame the coach

This idiot fricked up his own life. Please stop making excuses for him. You want to blame someone, blame RP AND his parents!!! End of story!

that may be true, but his all world talent does nothing for me(and LSU) if hes @ jacksonville state. million dollar body, 10 cent head. im excited b/c shep has all world talent-- maybe not statistically-- but an exceptional talent and an even better head. cant wait for him to get to campus

I saw two runs by shep where he completely juked the defender, the second one was for a td and was ridiculous.

That is why I said that shep is way ahead of Perrilloux in terms of character. I think shepard is an amazing talent, but not all world. His character as a recruit is all world. Perrilloux was just the opposite. Shepard obviously has the better future ahead of him, but who knows. You may see Ryan running an NFL offense years from now. I can't predict the future.
