Malzahn fielded great rushing attacks at Tulsa, so I don't see why it would be hard to believe that he could give either one of those backs the ball. There is a reason Arkansas fans love Malzahn to this day and hate Nutt, FWIW.

Well that's just fantastic. His offense still works in the SEC, quite well actually. And seeing how it was branded to "not work in the SEC", it doesn't appear that you said anything that would ruin my argument.

he could, if he could land them

He was able to recruit the best athletes in the nation to run his offense, auburn won't be able to. It was both the athletes and the scheme that makes UM's scheme work as well as it does. Auburn may have the scheme, but will never outmatch teams the way UF is able to.

I never claimed that our offense would be anything close to Florida's. I do expect that we will be at least average on offense this year, although our shallow depth on offensive line might contradict what I expect. We hired good offensive coaches, and Malzahn is on record for really liking Kodi Burns as a QB while at Arkansas and wanted to coach him, so I'll trust his judgement. If Burns doesn't work out, we'll try a different quarterback, possibly Caudle or Chris Todd.

If we have offensive problems next year, it won't be because Malzahn's offense doesn't work in the SEC, it will be because of our bad offensive line and the fact that we are running so many different offensive systems over the past couple of years.

Do you guys remember when Rueben Randle said that the Hurricanes were his favorite early last year after his initial visit? It's too early to freak out about this!

I'm high on the guy, but he has one hell of a mess to turn around. He's won two Offensive Coordinator of the Year awards and hasn't fielded anything less than great in his coaching career. I'm hoping for more of the same at Auburn

But Petrino isn't to shabby either when it comes to offenses, he should be able to turn Arkansas around soon.

This is laughable. There is about a 1% chance that he ends up at Auburn.

how do you know that? It came straight from his mouth and like Books said, it is the first time he has really named an outright leader.

That's one of the reasons. And perhaps he just feels like having fun with his recruitment. He probably doesn't want everyone to think it's just an LSU/UT battle.

could be. I was really surprised by it. Why would a top running back want to play in that new offense?

All the new coaches in the SEC have no track record so the recruits only see the dreams of a coach. We will see how well they do next year and if he still wants to go to AU then I will have to get ready for a few 12 hour drives a year.

pretty much any new coach at a decent school will have a good recruiting year during their second recruiting season (1st full one). They can basically blame any fault with the school on the old coach, claim how they'll fix it and promise as much playing time as they want to.
