Shea is saying that Gay's comments are legit and that other SEC team sites are also saying that other players at the AA game have been buzzing about it.

They should be. It's absolutely criminal LSU can't get the LBs they want in an elite defense like this. Only time our defense ever gets overshadowed in the conference is Bama. Both LSU and Bama have college defenses as close as it gets to an NFL one. Aranda is also a VERY good DC. LBs are insane to not want to come here and play under him no matter how long he stays.

It's clear to me we really need help there in recruiting. Obviously Aranda is not a great recruiter which is okay because probably doesn't matter who he gets he's going to develop them as evidenced by the talent he had in the past before LSU. I'm also a little worried there in QB recruiting for the future. Who's going to get that full here? I don't think Canada can recruit either.

What's scary to me about LSU's defense is they got better as the season went along. That's them buying more and learning his scheme.

We need to keep Craig IMO. We also need someone with Alabama or Texas ties to help with LB recruiting.

Agreed. Peveto wasn't a good coach but he was at least a pretty decent recruiter. How many assistant slots does LSU have open right now? I'd imagine Jenkins is also a liability in recruiting for sure. Don't really like his position on staff personally. Was hoping he'd move somewhere else and open up that spot but I guess not?

We have some damn good recruiters on staff but we still need help in certain areas, IMO.

BTW, I am also hearing that Bama was looking very hard at Monte Rice prior to his flipping back to UGA. I wonder if this means they think one of their current LB commits might have a change of heart?

MSU posters on 247 are also saying they wouldn't be surprised if Gay left the state.

Now there's some smoke to look at here. Hopefully it leads to a forest fire, because he would be a big get out of Starkville.

I don't think we can close the book on either as weak recruiters HERE yet. What we need are the position guys who are getting out there, making the connections and the early visits and setting the table. Aranda strikes me as the kind of guy who will be able to close on guys we get to campus.

Don't forget that this year is different. It's the end of Aranda's first year here, and we held off official visits because of the coaching change. The ones we had before the dead period were focused heavily on shoring up EEs. We will get a chance to see what he can do closing on guys very soon.

And I wouldn't put too much negative stock in losing Rice. The way Aranda approached him was the reason we got the commitment in the first place. If he was closer and had a stronger connection to our class, we might have held him, but Aranda was good enough to get the surprise commit in the first place. Give him time.

Twice the LB Moses will ever be. Don't want a hyped up attention seeker.
