I will select QB Jeff Driskel. Rivals' top rated QB. Signed with Florida.
Good pick-up IMO. I think he's the only really good can't miss type QB in this class. I was going to get him or M. Brown, but Thomas was just too good to pass on.

That's what I was thinking. There just wasn't anyone else that I would be nearly as happy with if I missed out on him.

he starts from day one, imo... its a good year to be an LSU fan for this draft

Wow, eight picks in and three LSU players off the board already. I guess there's no way Hilliard, Rasco or OBJ makes it back to me.

But you got to at least spell it right.
T.J. Hosh-a-ma-zood. Yes, lock it up. Championship!

Damn you, now I actually have to think about my pick.

With the 10th pick, OBUDan selects:
Ray Drew, DE/OLB
Drew is one of my favorite players in this class. He has the versatility to bulk up a bit and be a 4-3 end or remain as a 3-4 OLB, as he will in Georgia. He's got the frame and explosiveness to be an elite level defender at the next two levels. That, and he's not ashamed of the gospel.
Ok, I'm kidding about that last part. But seriously, he's got all the attributes and still gives me the versatility to go 3-4 or 4-3, depending on how the draft shakes out.

Why am I not surprised you made that pick? You've been obsessed with him all season.
I had my eye on him but it just scares me with Georgia because I have no idea how that defense is going to play out. Drew doesn't worry me but that situation does a bit. That defense has come under serious fire and I don't know if he'll have all of the opportunities to shine there.
We'll see. I hope for the best for him, and you!

I do love the guy. One of my favorite players in the whole class. Glad he fell to me at 10.

I'm suprised someone took Hassan Clinton-Dix over Karlos Williams

Not sure where I wanna go with the 23rd pick. Last year I took a rb in the 1st round. It was Spencer Ware so I can't say i was disappointed, but there are so many good rb's this year.
Love the draft though.

It was my intention to take Williams with my pick. I was sitting glued to the screen all day long hoping that he wouldn't get picked. He's a physical freak and had an excellent bowl game and practices. He's a damn good player walking into a damn good situation at FSU. Clinton-Dix had a better supporting cast and probably better coaching up to this point. Add to that I took an Alabama safety last year. Basically everything pointed to Williams and I'll probably kick myself for not taking him. But film doesn't lie and I was overly impressed with the fluidity, speed, versatility, and instincts of Clinton-Dix so it was a last minute switch.

So I'm trying to figure out my strategy for drafting. What would be theoretically better here... a guy ranked #20 overall but may have to sit a year or two or a guy ranked #40 overall but will be a 4 year starter?

well we never really settled on a scoring system but generally the gist is rewarding awards and achievements in addition to high draft pick etc.
So you may be better off with a 4 year starter. But that's just how I approach this.
Driskel, for example, I chose not just because I think he's the best available but I like the situation he's walking into more.

Yeah a lot of my picks are going to be based on their situation and how I expect them to pan out.
My top QB choice went to Wyoming so I can't even justify drafting him in the last round anymore.

Aside from pure talent, the number one thing I look for is availability of playing time.
For example, one guy I am looking at this year will be behind 3 seniors and 2 juniors. So if he redshirts this year, he should get a little PT next, and then start the rest of his career.
