With the 465th pick in the Tiger Droppings Recruiting Board Mock Draft, OBUDan selects:
Clarence Jackson, LB
The linebacker pool is getting extremely thin, in case no one else noticed. Jackson is a guy that played RB in HS, and I can't find any tape on him playing D, but its well known he will be playing LB at Ole Miss. I picked him for a couple of reasons - he's a great athlete that runs well (4.56) for 6'2, 220 lbs. Secondly, Tyrone Nix is a great defensive coordinator/LBs coach, so if he believes Jackson will be a good LB, then I'll trust his evaluation. Finally, I was all set to draft Jake Nicolopolus from Clemson with this pick when I went to research him one final time and realized that on December 9th he suffered a near fatal stroke which means he'll never play FB again. He's currently going through rehab, but Clemson is honoring his scholarship. Sad story (what is this, the class of tragedy?), but good luck to the kid.

EVERYONE READ
Alright, I'm making an executive decision (sort of) on how to do this supplemental draft. I've read all of your ideas (and every post in this god damn thread for that matter), even if I didn't respond. I like many of them, but I've decided to blend many of them in my solution.
a) I, personally, love the idea of the substitution picks just because I think it would be crazy to see all the roster moves etc., but at the end of the day several of you have problems with that, so I'm throwing that out.
b) I considered doing a random assigning of the remaining guys, but then it sort of sucks because you just get another dude on your team that you probably don't care about.
c) I'm rich biotch!
Alright, so here it is. I'm putting it to vote. But you have 2 options and 2 options only. I'm not changing my mind on this, so don't try to talk me out of it. I'm a stubborn bastard.
Option 1:
We have 2 supplemental rounds. Available in these rounds will be EVERY selected player on a quitting teams AND everything left in the pool upon draft completion. These will be two additional slots on your roster and don't need to be respective of any positional requirements.
The reason for 2 rounds is because there are only 30 some players drafted not every team would get 2.
To do this draft, I will throw all user names back into a hat and randomly select an entirely new draft order (so as to show no favoritism). The two rounds will be done snake, just as the rest of the draft. So, theoretically, 1st pick gets the "best" player but his 2nd player won't be as spectacular. Last pick gets a lesser "stud" but also gets two similar quality guys.
It's not the best solution, but I think it's the best combination of fairness and fun while also forcing users to actually make a pick.
Option 2
No supplemental round at all.
All drafted players will disappear into Neverland, never to be heard of again. Eternally Enfuegoed, if you will. The draft will end with 102362's picks and that is that.
So respond and let me know if you want 1 or 2. I'll tally the votes and hopefully my voting machine leaves no hanging chads so we can put an end to this. If there are any issues, I'm bringing Johnnie Cochran from the dead and Robert Shapiro out of obscurity to smack you Marcia Clark's down!

I vote option 2 because I dont see a fair option. Dan, you have weak inside linebackers because you waited until the last couple rounds before making that pic. You chose that strategy and should live with what you took. You could possibly get Jeff Luc with the supplemental draft. That isnt fair to anyone who took an inside backer earlier in the draft. First, because you are getting what many consider to be the number one overall inside linebacker from pure luck. Secondly, nobody in the earlier stages of the draft had a chance at him when many probably would have taken him. Third, there are not 30 quality players in that pool. I see only around 10 that would interest me so roughly 10 teams have a chance to improve while the rest dont.

Desmond brown, safety out of Clemson.

Although I agree with bayoucatfan, I vote for option 1 because this is all just for fun.
My one stipulation is that when someone picks, the player they replaced goes back into the pool. This will give more quality to the pool.

I vote option 2 for this season.

Gee thanks.

But here's the rub. Since you are using the example of ILBs. Jeff Luc was taken 9 picks after me. What if he hypothetically fell all the way back to my 2nd round pick because the guy who picked him was actually never there. Who is to say I wouldn't have taken him? Or if someone else took him, maybe I get the player they took.
Its not fair that really good players simply disappear just because some guys were flaky and the rest of us stayed diligent.

You're right. NOBODY had a chance to get him because someone took him and quit. Honestly, by your logic I can also say that the draft should have stopped as soon as Enfuego quit because everyone take after that shouldn't have been taken because it messed up the order etc. etc.

Again, that's just your opinion.
Also, is it really this serious? I mean, at the end of the day this is all just a big exercise in fun. There's no way to accurately judge a winner or loser.
I guess I just don't see why it's that big of a deal.

This is without my vote.

I vote option 1 as well.
I like the randomness involved.

Option 1 just because I want Jeff Luc so bad that I'm willing to risk someone else getting him

What's the verdict on Dan getting Benedict and me getting Luke Joeckel to replace Coleman and James?

I threw that out.

There's no risk. There won't be any throwing players back. Just additional roster spots.

No, I'm willing to risk someone else getting Luc on their team.
