This Ethan kid I have not heard of.

He blew up at the Baton Rouge Nike camp; he's our center if we decide to take one.

As it stands we have a potential for 4 5 stars (Collins, Hilliard, Landry, Robinson) and 8 4 stars in-state from the Rivals 250. Not too shabby really. I should stop my bitching.............but I wont.

So no Worley, or Marquise Williams...
Bridgewater #140, Hundley #216.

Blew up at a camp at LSU and he didn't get an offer? We need OC pretty bad. It's been a rough spot in recruiting.

Being as non-homerish as I can be, I still am surprised Hill and Randle aren't in the 250, and even McGhee.

my concern is that we have all but "abandoned" Texas. we have no 250 players from Texas. Oklahoma has 4 guys from Houston and East Texas
where we normally kill them (Brandon williams, metoyer, hughes, stevenson). no way we should lose hughes or stevenson (muncie teammates).

WE MISS YOU PORTER.

does anyone know who is the primary recruiter for Houston? does anyone know any uncommitted Texas player that we are hard after?

uhhhhh no we don't.

Wilson is locking down Louisiana like Porter couldn't.

I would also add that we will see improved production from the RBs this year under Wilson.

And you're seeing an eastward shift in recruiting. We're much more involved along the east coast than we have been recently.

Haley is working in the Houston area.

The guys you mentioned, Hughes and Stevenson, would you rather have Hughes than Rasco and Clowney or another Rivals 250 DE out of Florida? It's all about priorities and they weren't priorities. And which receive that's in the stable or left uncommitted by very interested in us would you drop for Metoyer, who appears to be a diva type of player?

Relax. Everything is going to be okay.

Randle is a 250 player from Texas. These are early rankings...chill out. It wouldn't surprise me to see a couple 5 stars LSU has, drop out of that status eventually. Then some guys move up in the rankings too. I don't know what Rivals is thinking about Hill/Randle but they must be pissing in some Rival scout's cornflakes.

Could just be a evaluation thing where they haven't got around to them...Rivals dicked Minter pretty bad when Scout had him pegged from the beginning. They can't get every ranking right, the South is so loaded with talent, its easy to overlook.

Wow, Anthony Wallace dropped big time as well. Everyone was crowning him the best inside LB before the year, now he's at 110

Their argument for Rasco being so low is his frame and his athleticism not jumping out to them. I think that is a fair assessment. I think hes a great player but I never understood the hype for him being a elite blue chip prospect. It doesn't help he plays in 2a.

I want to know what they have to say about Hill/Randle. Probably size for Randle and they're not sure he can play OLB. Hill, I'm sure they'll say hes overrated because Collins opens holes up anyone can run through...

Just looking at their rankings, they have a lot messed up, IMO. Jernigan is another one that is too low. Jernigan should be the #1 DT, IMO. Its early, they'll fix it.

agree w/ you ab Texas, LSU is basically a non-factor this year outside of Randle. Way too important recruiting area for that to ever happen. Would have really liked that last staff opening to have addressed that area better. TX should have one of the top 2 recruiters on staff beating the bushes. Porter will be missed there.

WE CANNOT ABANDON TEXAS. I agree that wilson is doing a great job but we "ALSO" need a stellar recruiter in Texas. I would not pass up Hughes for anyone who is not committed. WE TRIED THAT STRATEGY WITH CHRISTIAN MICHAELS.

why go east and fight all the SEC teams when we can beat A&M and OK in East Texas.

MY GUESS IS WE ARE ONLY GOING EAST BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THE NEW COACHES (DEFENSIVE GUYS) KNOW BEST. Gonzales in Florida will be better tha Earl Lane was.

I think its a combination of a few things:

-LSU doesn't have Porter anymore

-Louisiana is stacked and LSU doesn't have to look beyond its borders on limited scholarships this year

-LSU wasn't really going after too many people in Texas this year to begin with

-Texas was just in the NC game, that is fresh on every mind

Next year will be a good indication of how things go in Texas. I agree with Books, wish we got someone with Texas ties. Can't find many TE coaches that are great recruiters though. But if I had my way, Miles or Gonzo could coach TEs. Bring in a great QB coach who has Texas ties...

trading TX for the East Coast would be a dumb move if that's really the plan moving forward. I don't think it is, though. Think you hit on it that it's bc it's what the new coaches know best. East TX/Houston needs to be priority no. 2 for LSU. That said, I'm not sure that area is as great as it usually is; seems more of the top talent is from Mid and N. Texas or is at a pos. LA has covered.
