I'm going based off the fact that nobody on that 1A football championship game field has a D1A scholarship as compared to the years past when I can name a shitload of 1A players who grazed the dome turf.

Not yet. But since you are counting Spears's freshman year I'm sure some of them will have scholarships by the end of their high school career. Also, some just have grade problems.

Kid is going to be a beast on the football field and in track. He's nationally ranked for his age group.

Turner will play D-1 ball.

Their RB has signed with LA tech already.

and there are 2-3 more D-1 players on that team.

I like that Slyve kid.

SP was an awesome team to watch, no doubt. But do yall really think they would have held a 90s Evangel team to 41 yards?

No.

But Evangel would have a hell of a time stopping their offense as well.

And Evangel has proved that they arent a real 1A team. They dominated 3A, then 5A when they moved up eventually.

Again, do u know who Southern Lab lost to in the magical year they have in 1996?

I don't know. What I do know is I respect Ed Daniels opinion and also JT Curtis's opinion. Would the hold them to 41 probably not. But it would be a fun game to watch. Cruthfield's offense is pretty much fricking juggernaut and very hard to defend.

That SP was the best 1a team they had ever seen, and better than the Evangel of the early 90's.

Again, it wasn't 1 magical year..........Southern LAB and Kentwood were the daddies of 1A in the 90s in football.

Southern Lab was also the daddies and still is today of 1A basketball.

Then we can talk about their track program....... they probably have won more state titles in that than any 1A school ever.

I never said SP was the best program ever.

This one team, this year, 2008, is close to 2nd to none.

also peyton, that sounds pretty accurate. And they have seen a lot of football.

Well, considering that I had been hearing that since week 1 of the football season about SP it isn't that hard to believe.

But I don't think SP could have beat any other team that played and won their class this year.

I did miss the 2A game though.

Maybe not. You never know though, they would have probably given BC a tough game. They lost 14-8 last year...

I think the Notre Dame/Lutcher game was pretty weak. I think they'd match up well against Lutcher fwiw.

This is getting dumb, but what the hell - my prediction:

2008 SPHS 43
1994 Evangel 24

SPHS 224 Yds total off (116 rushing and 108 passing) and 118 return yards

Evangel 136 Yds total off (109 passing and 27 rushing)

It really is impressive when you bring up the avg win margin against 1A competition.

My point in reference to Lab was to show that 1997 wasn't an anomoly, Lab was a top 5 team from that 1997 team until 2001.

Nice.....now compare them to the 94 champs from Haynesville.

Evangel claims 1994 championship, but if i'm wrong i apologize. Obviously, 1994 Haynsville would not have scored 24 points on SPHS.

South Plaq is the best 1A team in years but there's no way they beat the Josh/Abram Booty-led mid-90s Evangel teams. The talent on those squads was incredible.

Maybe the best 1A teams SINCE then though.

Not so fast. SPHS runs a more diverse offense, and Ridge Turner, Lyle Fitte, and Bradley Sylve can match speed with anyone on those Evangel teams. Plus the SPHS is not just flashy, although they are not that big overall, SP is a tough, physical team.
