Has the team had an intrasquad yet? Most teams are giving their fans so many sneak peaks and videos and it’s been crickets for us. Yes, I’m jealous.

You bring up a good point. LSU has, in the past, been at the forefront of providing video and updates but they have really let a LOT of the other schools pass them by this season. Not sure what is going on but you have to think of these things when you have recruits watching all the videos of these other schools they may be interested in and they can't even see anything from LSU.

It’s weird because they have talked about doing the FB live stuff not long ago. I imagine they will post some highlights from the inter squads soon.
I’ll post a fall update tomorrow on the rant but the team looks really good, there has some young kids who have taken some significant steps forward already.
Just some highlights
-Kelley looks very good, she will anchor floor and has a shot to win a spot in the vaulting lineup. She isn’t the traditional Beamer but she is clean and has done a great job.
-Edwards may be one of the most improved. Her vaults are phenomenal and her landings are much much better. The upgrades on floor are going well. She’s improving her feet in between the her leaps.
-Desidero is in much better shape right now. She will be in the middle of the floor line up. Upgrades are still a possibility as she gets more fit for floor. The plan is for her to lead off on beam, then structure the lineup around her.
-Dean and D’Antonio look really really good on beam. Dean is really stepping up right now, she will be a key contributor this season.
-Ruby seems to be blossoming right now. What we saw from her at the end of last year is back but improvements in other small areas. Her dismounts in practice have been money.

What time is the team practicing at?

I have loved the Facebook live the last few years. Hopefully they will get back to giving us some preseason stuff. I do think it’s important for recruiting as well.
Speaking of recruiting, gymdivas posted that Kaytlyn Johnson of Texas Dreams has committed to LSU.
Tigerbait, looking forward to reading your full update tomorrow.

Way to spoil the surprise lol jk
She just moved to Texas Dreams. She is a power gymnast, phenomenal on vault and floor. She is a junior elite as well
Kim will definitely straighten her out on beam, TD kids are usually all great on beam

I’m sorry! It caught me by surprise when I was just scrolling through Instagram. I don’t know anything about her, so going to YouTube now!

Johnson also seems like she has gone through puberty so she shouldn't have issues losing skills or anything in the future unless she continues to grow too much. Definitely powerful.

Agreed, she is 15.
She is training a double full. Her full is insanely easy for her. I like her technique on her vaults, it’s effortless for her.
It will be exciting to see how Kim shakes her up on beam. Watching her at the JO level on bars, she actually isn’t bad. She hits her handstands well, just got to add a release and fix her double layout on the dismount.
With how big this sophomore class is, LSU still has 1-2 more spots left for this class.

Did anyone make it to the intrasquad yesterday? Curious how they looked. LSU released some video but it’s really not much. The only vault shown was a front pike which I’m sure will never be in the lineup.

Money seemed to win....

I was able to make ½ of the intrasquad. My plane literally landed at 1:29 and by the time I arrived they were warming up beam. I don’t want to post too many details, because they’ve been so tight lipped on social media this year, I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag (excuse the pun) in the event that was on purpose.
But here are some notes without letting too much out:
Desiderio led off beam and looked crazy solid. You can tell she takes pride in being that first gymnast up, which is a great sign (and let’s be honest, for the next three years too).
Sami competed on beam Friday, few bobbles but worked out of them well.
There were some knee issues on series for the first few up, which I’m sure will be worked out before season. Edney was third, who tends to have slightly bent knees too, but not today!! Edney just looked phenomenal. Like seriously… super confident and just crazy beautiful beam. They also reworked her mount, which let’s all be serious, thank gawd!
Reagan also has a reworked mount, but it’s just as beautiful as the press handstand, and y’all will love this one more. She also changed her series on beam.
Bridget looked good too, just needs more numbers. I loved how they put together her routine. Not cookie cutter at all.
Sarah was all doing Sarah things and making everything look beautiful. She did bobble on her series and was close to missing a foot on her somi, but she was all, nope, I’m just going to adjust a little and stay on this beam because I am beautiful and I’m way too artistic perfection to fall.
Kelley did beam too, and she attacked it. Her routine does worry me because it still has a tuck jump full in the leap series – a skill that always freaks the bejeezus out of me. McKenna has self-admitted to her lack of flexibility, so I get it, but doesn’t mean I have to like it!
Floor looked super strong. Lexie stayed on the tumble track, and we had some people throwing passes on the rod floor that were not quite ready for the spring floor (but it is October and all!)
Choreography is AMAZING!! I mean, I didn’t see any typical OU type themed routines about starving children or orphanages in random European nations (I mean seriously where do they pick these themes), but that’s never been our thing anyway.
Edney’s routine is much better suited to her dance style. Finnegan used last year’s routine, not sure if she’s keeping it or just still working on this year’s… It’s still so early.
I will say this, you’ll see some passes that will totally shock you… and in a good way! There was one time where I thought, OMG, I can’t believe they did that, but… then I was all, that’s brilliant!!

Edney is in for a monster year
If her beam continues to improve like it has this fall, she could easily win SEC gymnast of the year
Having her and Finny is such a blessing for us in the all around.
Beam is going to be the event that is going to take time to develop. Sami didn’t even train beam much last year due to her injury. I like the flow and composition of Deans beam.
Kelley isn’t the most natural beam worker, flexibility is a concern but she will get better with more reps
