From national team camp at LSU

Lexie’s IG story says she’s ready to vault!
Posted on 7/20/18 at 1:33 pm to BunnieGene
Yea I expect to see her more on vault next year than floor.
If she can rock that 1 1/2 next season that will open things up a lot
Whats funny is at LSU everyone knows her for her bars but as an elite gymnast, she was known for her vaulting and floor work.

She was so promising as an elite... loved her double-double, Amanar and didn’t she sometimes dismount beam with a full in? Stupid injuries. So much untapped potential

I have heard that UCLA is interested in Alexis Jeffrey, I wonder if she would ever go there or is all in for LSU

I agree a lot of the top schools are turning into UCLA and recruiting most elites

Do you know if there would be spots open for them? Or how many spots are left for 2021

LSU has two girls committed, Aleah Finnegan and Tori Tatum
The 2021 class for LSU is the large freshman class from this past season, although only a select few were on scholarship but that changes.
LSU should have room for another 2 girls, the money availability changes a bit from season to season. Kind of all depends on how much money is reallocated to this sophomore class, for example I do think Edwards definitely has earned scholly money, she contributed a lot on vault and floor year one and was All SEC

Wouldn't be surprising, her stock has jumped this entire year. She is phenomenal on bars and beam, and continues to grow on the power events.
All that chatter with Alexis has been LSU and Alabama, haven't heard any other schools she was seriously looking hard at besides these two but stuff changes obviously.
LSU seems all in JaFree Scott, tbh of all the GAGE girls, she probably contributes/offers the most from an all around perspective, and this is no offense to Eaker/Wong. She is the full package on every event.
Go watch verification camp from not long ago, should be on USAGym's channel

Jafree Beam Routine
JaFree Vault- Double Twist Yurchenko
JaFree Scott Floor Routine
JaFree Scott Bars Routine
She more than has room to upgrade to an Amanar on vault, which she is supposedly training or about to be

She has it all...I’m so glad we are seriously in it for her.

I’m excited to see the girls with their major upgrades this week. Lot of new skills are expected to be showcased at the classic
Dunne in particular has some massive ones that are ready. This is also a great time for Aleah to throw out some of her bigger skills, she is already qualified to nationals, this is just another great chance to practice
Supposedly Tatum is upgrading her beam, she has some great skills she trains on floor, unsure when she will showcase those.

Looking at the 2019 bars lineup, we obviously only have one real position to fill, Myia.
Durante
Unknown??
Harrold
Edney
Priessman
Finnegan
I don’t have any real clue as to who the coaches may choose for that open spot and would love everyone's opinion. They spent a lot of time trying to develop Kirby, who I think fell on her bail every time she competed last year (but don’t hold me to that). I’m not super impressed with her bars, she lacks extension, stretch and feet, but there’s not much you can take from her dismount. She seems to drill that landing every time and it might be why they keep putting her in there.
I do hope to see Ruby’s routine clean up a little more too this year. This biggest debate might be on the actual order of the lineup. I know a lot of people on here want Sami to be moved later in the lineup, and this coaching staff has been known to take a previous athlete that historically scores 9.9 plus and plug them into the leadoff (Zamardi on bars and Savona on floor). I think Sami is a smart leadoff, but it wouldn’t shock me if they lead off with Edney. Realistically, I think they just plug someone into the second spot and keep it status quo.
Thoughts?

Ruby historically has always had routines that had form breaks throughout her gymnastics career going back to elite. They focused so much on difficulty instead of the execution which IMO is the major reason its been a hard transition to the college level. That said her performance in St. Louis was the best form and execution I have EVER seen from Ruby as a gymnast. Jay did a wonderful job cleaning up the small form breaks and the dismount consistency improved as well.
I like Kirby a lot, I do not see her as a bars worker for this program. Seems like they are trying to force it but it just isn't there. Kind of like forcing Cannamela on the beam lineup.
I feel fairly confident Ferrer or Dean will be the people to plug in for Myia. Ferrer had taken tremendous steps forward on bars within the last few months. She hits the hand stands great, the feet and pointed toes are much much better, natural swing, no bent elbows.
Dean looked very strong in the fall last year, I am still a little baffled we never saw her.
Durante is a natural on bars and her score would be maximized moving her down the lineup. If they do that and she hits the dismount more consistently, she will always be a 9.9+ scorer for us. Honestly I though her routines were better than Myia's many times last season but constantly scored lower, which showed the placement in the lineup continues to factor in.
IMO
Ferrer
Durante
Harrold
Edney
Priessman
Finnegan
I really like Ferrer to end the years as a regular in this lineup, she does a lot really well. Hell when she was an elite briefly she excelled on the uneven bars at camps. But LSU will try to work multiple kids on that event, including Kirby as well
I posted a link of Ferrer practicing on bars not long ago but she looks very good right now and will be better come December.
Although they may keep Durante at the lead off because she is calm and collected, and most importantly, extremely consistent. We may move her down the lineup for her upper class years
It would be dumb to move Edney, she scores great in her position in the lineup, she scored a 9.95 at super six. Keep her where she is

I heard Emma Spence from Canada is interested in competing college gymnastics when she finishes her elite career

Thank you...I love how the clips are labeled... best of luck to all of them competing at Classics this weekend!

The senior competition will be very fun to watch, I think Simone is suppose to compete all around instead of the original beam and bars only
This Time of the year is a fun time, a lot of new skills about to be unveiled.
