Like someone said, maybe it was the LSU-Auburn game where Auburn completed an amazing one pass to their WRs for a grand total of one yard prior to the final drive in garbage time.

top WR graduates. 2nd WR will be a Sr and had 30 more catches then Auburns 2nd WR. Auburn's 2nd, 4th, and 5th leading receivers by reception are RB's and everyone from Auburn returns. including the leading the WR who will be Jr.

there's a lot to sell but i still don't think he's coming.

One stat that is interesting is that Auburn's second leading reciver in terms of completions is Mario Fannin a RB with 42 completions.

Fanin played in the slot this year and rarely lined up in the backfield. Hope Les didnt point out AU's second leading receiver is the slot guy.

Well Reed had said a couple of weeks ago that Chizik and company were telling him how they hadn't been held under 500 yards. We might have showed him the box score of the Auburn/LSU game.

Even more telling looking at the stats from ESPN LSU completed 148 passes to WR's out of 198 completions for 75% going to the wideouts.

On the other hand Auburn completed 110 passes to WR's out of a possible 218 for a big 50% going the WR's with the rest spread amongst the RB/TE's.

Seems to me that Auburn is more of a west coast type spread team which would suck for a WR.

He played an H-back role actually not just "slot guy". Did he line up in the slot sometimes sure but do not make it out to be that was his primary position as that is just false information.

He was a big part of the screen game that Auburn implemented. I hope Les and company would point that out seeing how Reed is not nearly the size of Fannin and would not be utilized in the same role as him.

(1)Good for using to recruit Reed.

(2)Shows a horrible flaw in this year's offense. Totally wasted Dickson and our RB's that catch well out of the backfield.

That's simply incorrect. I watched every snap this year and I cant think of one time when he lined up in the H Back position. That was Eric Smith's position for blocking purposes. 99% of the time he was in the slot.

But it is true that the a lot of his passes were caught behind the line of scrimmage.

Sorry if the information is not correct I just took it off of the Auburn website from a quote your coach gave.

Thank you for confirming he caught a large number of his passes in the screen game.

Edit:
Looked at the article again, the reporter from Bama claimed him as an "H-back" sorry for the confusion.

quote:

Fannin is an H-back in Gus Malzahn's offense, which means he may be in the backfield, or split wide, or who knows where.

quote:

"Sometimes he is a tailback, sometimes he's at wideout," Chizik said. "He's been involved in our sweep and screen games. He's done a lot of nice things for our offense, which is good due to the injuries we've faced. He has really stepped up and has assumed some roles that he necessarily didn't have to fulfill at the beginning of the year.

Think you guys are missing the key point in all this. We threw to the RB's because we really on had ONE talented, capable receiver last year. Adams led the SEC in receptions/yardage I believe. And that was because he was our only real threat. Benton just was not ready. Since fall, coaches said he was rusty, ran poor routes, and was not consistant. Maybe that will change this year. Point is we get another solid receiver or two, they will put up big numbers. Look at what Adams did as our only real threat this year. Throw in another studd receiver, and you are looking at big time numbers, just like our 1 go to guy put up all year.

But havent' RBs always factored heavily into Malhazan's offenses?

What receivers (by that I mean any single guy) has put up big numbers under Malhazan?

No.

LSU fans call this poor coaching when we have players that aren't ready.

LSU WR's>>>>>>>>>>AuBarn WR's

So your comparison is LSU WR's in the NFL under miles vs. AU WR's in the NFL under previous staff? This does not make any sense at all. You can't judge AU now by what they did under Tuberville. If you knew anything at all you can look back at Mahlzan offensive attack and know that he always plays toward his strengths. With that being said I expect our WRs to make bigger impacts in games in the coming season.

Benton missed a season of football. That's a big issue for a WR. I imagine Trovon will have some issues as well considering how much he played/practiced QB rather than WR. It's not a position that you can take that much time off and pick it right back up.

Well, Au's running attack is what made their offense. i'm sure lsu's passing attack was much better. Especially passes to the wr's vs rb's.
