I get what you're saying, but comparing doctors to recruiting gurus is not the same.

First off, one is a science and the other is a guessing game.

I get what you are saying and I agree. it definilty extreme situation. but the fact is if you pay someone for expert service you should hold them to a higher standard.

I am not complaining I feel this way about all the sites and the services. I dont pay them anymore. When i did pay for it i really just loved the videos and interviews. There predictions and rankings are cool but its not as you say a "science"

i never have any idea what to think about this. obviously you could make a long list of great 3 stars and 5 stars who suck, but at the same time, if you look at rivals' team rankings, the teams consistently there and consistently pretty great.

that being said, wow, Malcom Jenkins was a 3? wtf. its not as bad as Polomalu being a 3 but damn.

The way I look at it si this, I pay 10 a month to sit on a forum and hear supposed insider info. Whether that's inside info, who cares. I think it is good info and I have fun reading this shite. Why? I have no idea. But in the end, that's all that matters.

This is my "soap opera." And I'll be damned if anyone takes it away from me.

I agree with you. i think you have to have certain expectation outof these sites, You could definitely trick off 10 bucks in a worst manner.

It has to be put into perspective. When I paid I found ways to enjoy it as well. but you are right its just entertainment. Something to keep you going doing the downtime of off season.

ETA:
If I had never found this site i may still be paying 10 a month for both scout and rivals. and then I was paying like 7 for espn insider. This site is content rich and provides me much of the same information just a little slower than the pay saites. I can live with second hand smoke....

Im not one of the people who gives a shite about stars because our class is special. But 90% of recruits and me like to see other players get rewarded for the hard work they put in.

Me too. But scout offered that 3 months for the price of one and I couldn't pass it up.

I actually thought about getting back in bed with them for that reason as well. In hind sight i probably should have done that.

But I still like rivals better.

I've always been more partial to Shea's work.

Now that i w ill back you on. As far as quote unquote insider information I definitly have to go with Shea over Mike. I used to loves Sonny fridays wrap ups as well. Do they still do that.

I would get a glass of drink adn some chips and get on my laptop for those.

He does the Tuesday night chat, but I've only been back for about 3 weeks. I'm not sure if he does that anymore.

The problems with all recruiting sites (in my opinion) are as follows:

1. They are evaluating kids who are not yet fully mature. A kid from my high school went to Miami, was a 190 lb safety and 3 years later was a starting OLB on a national championship team at 245. He even grew 2 more inches. I think this more explains a lot of 2 and 3 star "how'd they miss that" then the 5 star busts.

2. On the flip side, these guys love measurables. They love heighth and speed above all else. So you get guys like Xavier Carter who are tall and lightning fast but aren't football players. I'm not saying they shouldn't get excited about freaks of nature. But shouldn't freaks of nature dominate on the field in high school?

3. A lot of these kids have had their asses kissed their entire lives and don't know how to handle adversity or even the fact that back in HS they were BMOC but now they are one of 20-25 new recruits on teams comprised of plenty of recruits just as hyped as they were. This is only going to get worse as recruiting gets more attention.

So I think these sites do a decent job. They identify potential. But everyone who hasn't realized it now needs to understand this: just because a kid gets a 5 star grade does not mean he is better than the 3 star we also signed in the class and if you find yourself bummed out because "we have too many 3 stars" slap yourself in the face.

Yep. I subscribe to both Scout and Rivals' LSU sites--until recently. Dropped tigerbait.com a couple of days ago; they literally offer nothing.

Yeah, the videos were nice, but other than that? Meh. The writing is atrocious.

I'm just guessing...but I bet they get more wrong than right, if you are looking at high school to pros...

Tyson Jackson was 3 star. Mathieu became 4 star when LSU offered...until then, he was pretty much unknown
