Team Dro selects John McGee, OL Oklahoma
Ht: 6-3
Wt: 270
40: 4.85
McGee plays left tackle for his Texas team, but he has the build of an interior line prospect. He has good feet has a good drop step and shuffle when pass blocking. Will need to continue to get bigger and stronger to move inside on the college level. Quickness will allow him to be a factor pulling and trapping. Could play center or guard. John McGee also plans on a pre-med major and reports a 3.9 core GPA.

KeiVarae Russell, RB Notre Dame.
Going along with Jembeurt's earlier comments, I think this is the type of guy Brian Kelly has been looking for - he missed out on some top guys last year but landed Russell this year and I think he's going to be a Shepard/Harvin/Demps type of player. One-cut type back who has a good frame that could get a little more weight on it to improve on his difficulty with escaping first contact. Not mind-blowing, but has enough upside this late in the game to get me excited. Also sporting offers from USC, Oregon, and several other schools from the west.

I am really torn with my next pick. However, I don't want either of the next two guys to select one of them to make my choice easier. I want the other one to fall back to me.
:greedy:
Also, I just got a call and I have to leave the office for about an hour and a half. Let me know if my pick comes up. Hopefully I will be able to make a decision.

Does it worry you that they now nabbed Neal as well?

After painful deliberation.......
jembeurt selects Taylor McNamara TE, Oklahoma
If you would have told me before the draft that the first skill position I would draft would have been TE, I probably would have punched you in the face..... while laughing of course. TE in college very rarely make a difference early, and most of the time not much of one in their careers.
With just about all my positions I had left to draft, TE was the only one that I hadn't watched one second of film. So I decided to start looking at it. I noticed McNamara's name first, so I looked at his film. It looked pretty good (for a high school TE), so time to look at him a little closer. He is an EE, so that made him look even better. Oklahoma had recruited 4 TEs this class, so I knew that was a position of great need. Next, off to Oklahoma's roster for depth. I noticed there were only 3 TEs on their roster. Then I noticed that one of them was McNamara, another was a JUCO kid they got THIS YEAR, and another was a walk-on soph.
With that said, I felt that barring injury and sheer suckitude, PT this year should be a given, with a possible starting gig not too far away. He has really soft hands, which is always key for a TE. At 6'5" 230lbs, his size is greatly lends itself to him being a "receiving" TE. He run and pass blocks pretty effectively, although it will get much better with a college work-out program.
With his athletic ability and Oklahoma's depth (or lack there of) makes him a great pick this late.
Sidenote: He is an EE only due to one person: Trevor Knight. Apparently, Oklahoma could only accept one HS EE and both were going to enroll. Knight told Okla that McNamara could enroll, simply because of Okla's shite depth at TE. GREAT TEAM PLAYER RIGHT THERE.

I really like your team, Dro. Especially Peters, Theus, Dural and Evans. BUT I hate the Winston pick in the first round.

Somewhat. I think they can coexist and I don't really see Neal as an obviously better prospect. His decision to delay his announcement gives me the impression that he's more a diva than Russell, who declared at the end of last year. Also, having been committed for two extra months makes me hope that Russell has had time to gel with his teammates a little bit more. I worry that Neal will win Kelly over with his sheer speed, which I think is better at the top end than Russell. In a spread look I imagine Neal in the slot and Russell in the backfield.

Almost every school was recruiting Russell for the slot. He does not enjoy contact, so he doesn't want to play RB. Russell is very overrated IMO.

Well I guess since Harry liked so many players, he just decided not to select one at all.

Sure looks that way, eh?
So where does Neal end up at ND, iyo?

KR/PR duties for the time being, but he has to be on offense for ND. He is the most explosive player that ND has had in a while. Floyd was a really good college WR, but Neal has a much better set of skills. Neal could be the spark plug that ND needs to get better offensive talent out there. They better use him right. Him succeeding at ND will pay dividends for future athletes.
Not to mention that Notre Dame has some good, but young, talent at CB. With that said though, Neal would be the best CB on the team after a few practices under his belt.
I think his best position is CB, while also having KR/PR duties.

Good to see you back Harry. Although I do like Larry David as well.
