Pretty happy with my squad overall this year.

I agree. This is your most impressive team on paper.

My favorite picks based on value:
Durron Neal, 5
Joel Caleb, 6
JC Coleman, 14

Can't miss with Mario & Odenigbo....Receivers are nice. Really like Gilmore.

I feel the same about this pick as I do with the Javalle Allen pick very little chance he ever sees the field but with the last pick and already having Kline, the upside of having a potential Leach QB is worth it.

Why don't you think he sees the field? I think he redshirts and ends up playing his Junior and Senior year. Apodaca wasn't originally Leach's guy, but Leach got him to sign. Nobody else on the roster has any ties to Leach.

Like I said before, I think the best team overall is Dro. Besides his QB, I think it's a very solid team all the way around.

TDawg, do you have any idea why Trent Sewell wasn't ranked any higher? Was it just the competition?

Does me picking up TJ Millweard from UCLA in the Supp. rounds fix my Winston problems?

I've said it before, but Corey Smith is the only guy on my squad that I think could be a complete fall out. I don't think anyone else will completely fall off the map, like so many did from my first year.

Gimmie Todd Mays, QB, Arkansas State

ETA: I didn't know Selma, AL very own DT Dexter Blackmon signed with the Gus Bus in Feb.
Good for him.

I think it is a great insurance policy FWIW.

Yeah, someone took him a round or two ago.

Usually guys like Leach with a full year will find a guy who they really want as opposed to a guy who he inherited or picked up at the last minute. But this being your last pick I think the low probability of him starting is worth it as a last pick. Good Pick

My first supplemental pick. He should start this year. I thought my bigfoot picture of him would go over better with the long timers here.

I looked at him too considering he's going into Malzhan's system. After a lot of reading (Way more than I ever though I'd do about an ArKansas State recruiting class.) I think one of the running backs he signed (I think the kid from Miss) may actually end up competing for the QB spot. Good pick considering the coach and competition though.

Hey Dan, completely off topic...do you consider yourself a Fantasy Baseball badass? I need some advice, and I can't just ask people on the fantasy board because they are all in my league

Oops, forgot to reply to this earlier. I asked a couple of guys who cover the state of Washington recruiting and here were some of their quotes...
quote:

Not a grades issue, not attitude... I still think he was a pac-12 level guy, I don't get it. In this class he would be rated even higher.

He had a WSU offer and waited too long, Wulff pulled it. When Leach came in, he seemed to target smaller quicker WR like Gabe Marks and Mickens. UW was set with Rector, then when he moved on they had shots at Mickens and Payton, which were better options.

I don't blame either in state school, but I think he would have been a good signing for them. I don't get what OSU, Colorado, Utah, etc were up to because I think he is better than guys they brought in.

Different guy...
quote:

I think Trent Sewell was one of the more talented WRs in the region last year. Personally, I thought he had more upside than Rector, but (and this is where Jake and I sorta part ways) I think a lot of the reason some schools didn't offer was because of either his or his father's attitude about his abilities.

Trent could have been a four-star kid and could have had double-digit offers, but I think in he and his father's heads, they viewed him as an elite kid who wasn't going to "settle" for one of the in-state schools. I think Trent wanted an offer from UW, but even if they had offered...I doubt he would have taken it.

Also, in my opinion, Trent only played to about 50% of his abilities as a junior (he had over 1000 yards receiving that year, but I thought it could have been a lot more and he could have had a lot more than his 14 TDs that year). As a senior, I did see him put out more effort and he seemed to be tougher (maybe the snubs toughened him up or he played with a chip on his shoulder) so...who knows.

All I know is, I saw a kid who had tons of potential, but who really didn't seem to have the heart and desire necessary to be a highly-recruited kid.

And then some random guy who chimed in...
quote:

I went to Bothell High, and have some "connections".

It seems like Trent was waiting for an Oregon offer that never came, he was enamored with the Ducks, but they weren't with him. So he played the waiting game, while other solid offers evaporated from coaches that couldn't wait any longer.

Thanks TDawg! Always like the West Coast info.

That's why I love this draft. So much info you'd never get anywhere else or really care to find out about.

Little bit of props for my 2010 QB - Terrance Broadway, ULL (by way of Houton)

This will make following the Cajuns more fun for me in the next 3 seasons. I didn't realize they picked up Jalen Fields. Nice!

I honestly just stummbled upon him. Liked his size and speed and watched some film and couldn't figure out how he slipped. Hopefully he will get his attitude straight and be a good player down the road.

So what happens when you find a guy you really like a week after the draft ends?
