Loaded... hmm. That can mean whatever you want it to mean. Loaded. Were we unloaded in 09? Does that explain the "down year" you and lots of us so-called Negatigers say we had?

And Gonzo here as an OC. Nice try. Kind of like GC's secret playbook that was going to be unleashed "next time" versus UF, then UA... remember that one, Tiger fans? (that persistent delusional rumor of '09, born of the hope LSU wasn't really as bad as they looked on the field)

Very true, if anything the problem with our team is less to do with the talent and more to do with the coaching

Good, the old tried and true name calling tactic when you have nothing else left. Impressive.

I can respect your opinion, even though I don't share agreement on the Perriloux thing. Yes it was a fiasco, but I just don't see giving him that much credit. Was he the whole LSU team? No. Was his departure in mid-season? No. Was there time to develop readiness on the part of JL or JJ? Yes. I just see the bulk of the problem in a coaching failure to develop young QBs, admittedly earlier than originally planned. But this stuff happens to teams and they adjust. LSU didn't. That's coaching, IMO. And so I am not really optimistic that CLM & CO. have what it takes to develop any of the talent on any of the hi-ranked recruiting classes to the extent that said talent could be developed. Case in point: RS this past season.
___________________________

I would still contend that going into an SEC season with a totally green QB is a recipe for disaster, unless that QB is a once-in-a-generation talent. The defenses are just too good. No amount of preparation can make up for that lack of experience. We tried Hatch, Lee, and finally, Jefferson in '08 and none of them really set the world on fire. Still, we would have been better had the D played up to snuff. Last year, the D was much better, but the O struggled much more than in '08, which I attribute mostly to problems with the line. I still don't know what the root cause of those problems was. I'm sure Miles does, however, and will take steps to address it in his own quiet way. Again, I think it will take another year or two before we know whether the last two years were an abberation or the beginning of a downward trend. No matter what we THINK the correct answer might be, I'm sure we all HOPE it is the former.

No true Tiger fan would not hope that the worst is over. I agree there. But while you (optimistically) offer the next year or two to determine if a downward trend is truly before us, it's my feel that this next season will tell the tale. If I see a team that competes, the does not play down to the lowest level of opposition, that wins some big ones (even if some are also lost), and seems like it has team leadership and the ability to grasp a game plan and stick with it, I'll be ok for another year.

All the negativity. Its getting old. We had a down year. Thats it. We are loaded, and will continue to be loaded. Gonzo is here as an OC don't let anyone tell you different. This is a smooth transition taking place. No matter what i think Gonzo was hired with the idea of him taking over soon. Being brought on as recruiting coordinator and an assistant HC should say a lot. Smart move by LM. This way nobody gets their feathers ruffled next year

Your more full of shite than a Christmas turkey too. Gonzo was given those titles for more money to lure him away from Florida. Crowton is the OC until he is ran off. And smart move and LM don't belong in the same sentence. I guess you think his game and player management is brilliant too.

To be completely honest, I just don't know. I have no real feel for what kind of play this '10 team will be capable of. Let me say that another way, I think there is talent to win big most of the season; I'm not sure the coaching is as good as the talent. And the SEC is too tough to win on raw talent alone. Or on under-coached raw talent (which is what we've watched these last 2 seasons).

If LSU plays as erratically as the 09 team, we could easily be 2-4 as of Oct. 9. OTOH, if LSU plays like the LSU we all love in that same stretch, we could come into the UF game, and leave unbeaten (6-0).

I think those first six games are key to the rest of the season.

So he only got more money because of the titles? Really? So they pulled one over on the AD? The term Head coach in waiting means what to you? Just a gimmick to pay them more.

This is a very common used ploy actually. I don't think anyone is fooled by it though.

First, all new coaches inherit a coaching "culture" from their predecessor. Miles did. Saban did. Dinardo did. Etc.

I am sorry - calling BS and biggest load of crock on this.

This argument would be most effective had Miles won the NC the first year ALA Coker. This was the third year when the only influence could have been the stench from a towel that Saban used and hung in the rafters and no one could bring it down.

This is a stretch as an argument. Folks just find it very difficult to accept something when it goes against what they want to believe in -

In this case we had a couple of years after the NC that didn't go so well.
Saban came back to Bama
Saban won at Bama

Hence Miles must suck!

Do you see the logic in this?

Did he have a couple of comparatively mediocre years - yes
Does that mean the first three years were just luck - No (yes - if you are bad at logic)
