I think I would put Magee and Markel Brown in the top 5 before Swilling. He might be a football player, anyway.

Storm Warren, Terrance Henry and Greg Monroe was a decent top 3 last year. Probably better than the top 3 this year and next year.

I understand why we are talking about the 2010 class, but I said I don't understand why you are talking them up so much because there are essentially four kids and at least one of them (Swilling) is a marginal prospect for the SEC. If Galloway, Williams, and Derebecker is the best class to come out of Louisiana in years, that says a lot about the state of high school basketball in LA because there used to be true blue chip players coming out of this state not too long ago.
Because this class is better then people give this group credit for. Some of the same kids that are rated alot higher then them, these kids have already proven on a bigger level that they are better then them. Nobody gives La. credit for basketball talent, but there is alot of it this year.

The only one on this list that is worth saying is truly better is Monroe. Warren is just a body that can block shots. Can't do anything else. Henry is ok, but not much better if at all then Dennis Harris who sat this season at LSU.

Martelli hasn't really done much to totally separate himself from Trent Johnson. He has an elite 8 appearance 5-6 years ago and a sweet sixteen appearance about 13 years ago. And he's winning in the A-10.

I'm a big fan of Galloway and would like to see him stay here and come to LSU but I could understand other schools getting him, St. Joseph's not being one of them.

What is your knock on St. Joe's?

The same A-10 that Xavier is from who beat LSU?

UNC-while I didn't see Eackles this year play, AGAIN, my question is why did he move so much? I have coached and evaluated talent for college coaches also and I am still involved with over 90 programs. You keep hyping Eackles but to me a player that has moved as many times as he has sends a red flag. Now I know of the incident of why he left Glen Oaks, and to me again, with him bouncing for program to program is a red flag. And your evaluation of Paul Hillard, you did the same as you accused me of doing, you evaluated him from his high school days. The kid has totally changed his ways and he is RIGHT NOW a better player than Eackles. And as a high school player Coach Ari Fischer of Univ. High rated Paul the most talented player he ever coached against. I asked him to compare him to any player he had, and his direct quote was, Paul was the best player in that district in the last 10 years. And you can mark this down, he will be highly recruited for the 2010 class.

I also think that you are overstating the extent of Johnson's "national recruiting.
As far as I can tell, LSU has offered the following out of state players (along with Derenbecker, Galloway, and Brian Williams instate).
1) Phil Pressey-Dallas
2) Ralston Turner-Muscle Shoals, AL
3) Jelan Kendrick-Atlanta
4) Tobi Oyedjii-Bellaire, Texas, which is basically a Houston suburb.
5) Jalen Courtney (already committed to LSU)- Jackson, MS
So basically Trent has gone into 3 cities where Brady recruited fairly actively, in addition to two small cities within a few hundred miles of Baton Rouge. Depending on how interested each of these guys are, these are all very reasonable targets.

Yeah I was at the game I know that Xavier beat us and was the best team in the A-10. What's your point? So you're St. Joe's is riding Xavier's coattails now? That's what their program has been relegated to?
Simple fact of the matter is that the SEC, nine out of ten years, is stronger than the A-10. We can debate last year all we want about who was the better conference. I think it's easy to call Xavier the best team.
St. Josephs lost to Bama by ten last year.

Why don't you look at it from Galloway's perspective as oppose to what you(a LSU fan) wants. He has family in Philly, his uncle coach's there and he visits the area every summer for about 2 weeks. He has strong ties to the university and the staff. What you fail to look at is that It could be safe to say, it is like having to home town schools with LSU and St. Joes and he really can't go wrong with either. He can go and be the "Man" right away at St. Joe's or be the go to guy at LSU at the latest by his sophomore year. Either way it is a win/win, but you have to look at it as he wants what is best for him, and if LSU isn't on him like they were at one point, then right now it looks like St. Joe is better for him. Which in 3 months if LSU stays on him like they have in the past week then they will have a very good shot at him, but right now, they don't.

And that's fine. As I've stated, based on his offer list, there are certain schools I could understand. And even though every reason makes sense as to why he would consider St. Joseph's, I still don't feel as though it's a stage that is going to set him up for success in the same way as other schools would be able to do in a larger, more competitive conferences.
I simply feel as though the ceiling is higher for a player at LSU or the like than at a program like St. Josephs.
JMO. Good luck to him. I will wish him well regardless of where he decides.

I personally don't agree with not offering Eackles because I think Ledrick could have a lasting impression on the program kind of how Darrell Mitchell had.
Uh, didn't Eackles sign with Oakland Univ. or some such no place?

I can now see your POV on it, I feel the same way in that regard about playing in a bigger conference to get you more ready for the next level whether it be NBDL, Europe or NBA, with the latter being a long shot. Now at St. Joe he will have better stats then at a LSU too, so that will help too and if he can put them to a NCAA tourney appearance that will help him alot more too.
I jumped into the conversation too quickly and probably needed to convey my thoughts better.

I have never seem young Eackles play, but if he is anywhere close to his dad, i'd be at his house with the paperwork today
Did Ledell play at Broadmoor High in the early 80's?
If so he was a class act. My neighbor's older brother also played for BHS and we would go to games. When game was over all the younger kids went on the court to shoot and Ledell would come back out and play with all the kids, wowing us with dunks and such. Never knew what happened to him but my dad had told me he made it to the NBA for a stint. Would be excited to have his son in the P&G.
