ouldn't matter. When it comes to reporting, it would be like this year. How many of Bama's top class didn't make it to class in '08? think your class was donwgraded to tenth.

And I think you are a dumbass.

Taking into account the people that didn't make it, Alabama finished 2nd.

Both classes are top five but in are overrated by sheer quantity. Alabama's #1 class is actually #6 by star average; Miami's #4 class is 14th by that metric. Both contain large numbers of players with no chance to qualify this fall; it's all smoke and mirrors.

I thought you said #2, says here #6

#2 point-wise. #6 by star average. For the same reason that you said Ohio State had a good class based on quantity.

Your beloved Bama only finished with a 3.72 star average last year and that's before losing a few key players to grades, MLB, etc

If you lose this weekend, watch the recruits start looking elsewhere. If you win, you still have a chance to keep your recruits. LSU is week to week from here on out.

Irrespective of whether it is ranked #2 or 6th, Bama had a very good class last year and it is silly to try an debate that fact. Sure, the class lost some luster when it lost some of those players but still very solid.

However, the author of the linked article is stupid to argue that the number of recruits you sign is a more important evaluation/ranking metric than average stars. It's a safe presumption that almost any decent school can fill a class with as many 3 star players as it wants. The real trick is signing 4-5 star players; the recruits that are supposed to be game-changers. It's not like USC can't field a team each year because they only sign 18-20 4-5 star recruits every year.

There is no "whether"; after the players who left are accounted for, we finished 2nd. If you judge solely by star rating, USC would finish 1st virtually every year.

I never argued that quantity is better than quality. However, as many LSU homers have been quick to point out, Alabama lacks depth at several positions. We signed 8 3-star recruits before the losses were accounted for. Does that really sound like we were loading up on 3-star talent? 19 4-stars before the loss. Your argument really isn't valid...

Alabama NEEDED a large number of good recruits last year, and we got them. This year we'd love to have a large group, but the need isn't nearly as high as it was last year.

That's actually not true. Programs like Alabama, Notre Dame, Nebraska, etc. are very tradition-rich, each having multiple national championships, some from decades ago. Nevertheless, as you've clearly seen in Alabama's case, a good coach and signs of a turnaround can easily create an influx of recruits. If you pay attention to recruiting, you'll hear the word "tradition" come up quite a lot, actually.

No, a once in a lifetime group of talent in the state of Alabama can.

I think Alabama fans seem to not learn very quickly

LSU fans don't like Alabama.

We just don't, and we dislike you even more having our former coach.

Run along now

No, we know that you don't like us. We're not sure why. LSU isn't really one of our big rivals, maybe 3rd behind Tennessee and Auburn. But if hating us makes you feel good, then go for it.

Winning NCs is only one part of what encompasses a program's tradition.

What most gumps like you don't like to talk about is the fact that your program also is tradition-rich in things like rampant cheating that results in NCAA probations, sanctions, frequent coaching changes, etc. My signature pic pretty much sums it up.

Its sad but true gump. Bama and SMU are pretty much part of the punch-line when it comes to jokes about recruiting violations.

Think that Arkansas is going to finish in the top 15. We plan on signing close to 27 and are in the hunt for Wingo, Lynn, and Richardson.

Yep, and LSU will take down Bama this year...Bama seems to be slowing down a bit, perhaps depth is taking effect? dunno? Fast starts, then they hang on..

LSU will want it more this year... That game will have extra EMS personal for the players and for the fans..
