I'm a little surprised that we are looking for transfer OL with all the young talent like Chester and Heard etc. that didn't start this year. Anyone have any insight on our thought process at OL

We could lose Campbell, Emery, Dellinger, next year. Need someone to fill those spots.

My thoughts on the matter:

Currently LSU has 17 total Olinemen with eligibility remaining or are current commitments:

Campbell, Dellinger, Turner, Frasier, Jones, Heard, Davis, Calloway, Makaneole, Lee, Chester, Mubenga, Cryer, Lunsford, Bordelon, Adams and Williams.

Currently, the above referenced 17 Olinemen constitute a full OL room.

Currently LSU is at 93 scholarship player with eligibility remaining or are current commitments after the 7 announced transfer portal entrants.

Therefore there will be attrition (through draft departures and/or transfer portal departures) of eight more players just to reach the 85 roster limit and more attrition will be needed in order to take incoming transfer portal players. Just for example: Attrition of an additional 15 players would be required in order to sign 7 incoming transfer portal players.

The very intent of chasing transfer portal OLmen suggests that:

1. there will be additional attrition in the OL group.

2. the numbers just do not work without attrition in this group.

3. the coaching staff knows of this attrition and is looking to bridge the gap between the departures and the young guns.

It would not surprise me if any of Dellinger, Frazier and Turner, if not all three, have informed the staff of their intention to enter the draft. I think that this is the proverbial "writing on the wall".
