quote:aTm has about $20B less than that in endowments. And none of that has to do with how under-the-table athletics benefits are regulated. It's for system-wide academic support.
aTm has 33 billion in endowments.
LSU 500 million
We can’t win this as it is currently regulated

Even if it were legally permitted you would have to hope even the schools with the biggest endowments would have the common sense to treat the endowment money as sacred - to only be used for the long term preservation and advancement of the university.
The virtue of what LSU and a few other schools have done with football is real - using it to advance and support the university. The opposite should not be true or equivalent. The university can not exist to support or advance the football program.

and not $0.01 goes to pay football players... that is not how endowments work. If you use that to imply they have deeper pocket donors I can agree with that.

Texas is willing and able to spend 250 million or more

This seems like it’s going to be a disaster. I do t even know if there is a middle ground here.

If anyone is desperate to buy a winning season, if the Aggies…

We know for a fact that in the 80s, SMU was tossing around big money. Earl Campbell even said A&M offerred him a car which he drove on his way to SMU. If you watch the ESPN special, many of the people who were giving out that kind of money are on there, talking about it.
Fast forward 40 years, factor in inflation, and you still think this is unbelievable?
