Odell Beckham - TSD article (free)

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – One of the top performers at the Badger Sport/New Level Athletics 7on7 Tournament last weekend was Odell Beckham. He performed well on both sides of the ball and he talks about that, recruiting, and more right here.
“I think I played pretty well, but I could have done a little better. I missed a couple of opportunities, but that happens. I think I did pretty well really,” said Odell Beckham about his performance in Alabama.
Beckham starred on both sides of the ball for Team Louisiana and he never came off the field. His energy level was up, he always played hard, and he was definitely one of the top performers over the weekend.
“I think I did well in the open field when I got the ball in my hands at receiver and I think I did well in coverage at cornerback too. I have good speed and that helps me at both positions.”
He looked very good all the way around in Tuscaloosa and could be successful at either position in college, but if he had his choice, he would catch touchdown passes instead of preventing them.
The 5-foot-11, 175 pound athlete out of New Orleans (LA) Isadore Newman is not ruling defense out though.
“I really would play either spot if the coaches asked me to, but I just like touching the football and I think I can make plays when I have it in my hands,” he said. “I can make things happen when I get the ball in the open field, so that is why I am leaning more towards offense.”
Many schools are recruiting Beckham as an athlete, so his position on the next level will likely not be known until he signs with a school and gets on campus. He has a nice list of offers, but currently three schools stand out to him the most.
“I am looking at LSU, Miami, and Oregon mainly right now and they are my top three.”
“Both of my parents went to LSU and they have just been in my heart since I was a kid. Miami is just Miami and I would love to be part of a program like that. I took the online tour and I really like Oregon’s facilities and what they have been doing lately.”
When asked about a timeline for his decision, Beckham said it could happen at any time. It could happen before his senior season or he could decide to take his official visits first.
One thing he did know though was what would be the key factor in his decision when that time comes.
“I am going to go to the school that fit in best at. I need to be comfortable, I need to fit in, and that is big.”

Oregon has been all over the South lately. I don't blame anyone for recruiting this area, but you just don't see many big time recruits leaving the South unless they don't have an offer here or unless it's for USC, PSU, tOSU or Michigan.

And we've been all over the North (east) lately. You notice how many guys from states like New York, Maryland, and Jersey that we've been mentioned with? I much prefer going North to going West.

Why? You wouldn't want to tap into Cali?

I think he means the West is a waste of time to try and tap...
Their is no dominant program on the East coast and they have a lot of talent. Easier to recruit. Florida likes to recruit the NE/East coast too.

And this too. I know Cali is Cali but I think the East/NE coast is much more fertile and the talent is more likely to come down here.
