There will be several D1 athletes on the field tonight in the season opening matchup between North Shore and Katy. Many of them have LSU offers including North Shore’s QB, RB, WR (injured), RG (injured), LT, RT and one of their DB’s. Katy is the premier historical program in the state of Texas and their QB is the real deal as well. Should be a good one. Catch it at 7:00pm on ESPNU.

I have lived in Houston since 2003 and I can't remember Katy not getting to state semi finals at least. They are the premier program right now.

Obviously that’s subjective, but they are tied for most state titles with Southlake Carrol and Celina, all having 8. Now Katy isn’t as dominant today as they were in the 90s and early 2000s, but given they and Carrol have always won at the 5A/6A level of play, they are the head of the table.

Your Right Tackle friend injured himself there, or injured Katy's Right Tackle there?

IIRC Katy always played in the 6A (B) brakcet where the competition is a little less superior then the A brakcet where the likes of Allen, Desoto and those sorta teams play so we always thought they took so easier route but I could be wrong cus I did go to their rival school (not much of a rival tho tbh)

Thanks captain obvious. I forgot the Mojo is still running wild at Permian, and the wing T is the way of life.

ETA: Katy’s 8 titles span from 1959-2015. Carroll’s are from 1988-2011.

There’s a good DVD chronicling Celina in their heyday

Game was better than many of these opening weekend cupcakes in NCAA.

Really surprised how Katy bottled Evans up and made QB look bad.

RB Hoff for Katy was a man running ball. Only offer was Citadal going into game. That changed after tonight’s 200 yards.

Turned out to be a great finish. Was shocked to see NS get bottled up in the 2nd half. The ESPN broadcast had a stat saying NS was -6 yards on offense in the 2nd half prior to their final drive. Turned out to be a true Katy style win with great defense, a solid run game, and making just enough plays throwing the ball to keep a defense honest.

As a graduate of Katy High School, I am proud to declare victory this morning. I hope LSU can start a Katy pipeline
