DJ Banks was the MVP of the LSU camp at DB and he did not get a offer.
Can anyone confirm that DJ Banks got MVP of the LSU camp at DB? Dandy Don had Banks as the #23 best overall Louisiana recruit, while he had Morris Claiborne at #34. He listed both as ATH.
Both Rivals and Scout agree that he DJ Banks got offers from Georgia Tech, Miss State, Tulane, Vandy, and UL-Monroe.
Rivals has DJ Banks as a 3-star ATH (#92 best ATH recruit in nation). Rivals also lists Banks as the #35 best overall recruit in Louisiana.
Scout has Banks as a 3-star WR (#139 best WR recruit in the nation).
Also, this is how Dandy Don rated the Louisiana ATH, WRs, and DBs in his list of best overall Louisiana recruits:
1. Rueben Randle, WR
8. Kenny Bell, WR
9. Janzen Jackson, DB
11. Ricky Johnson, WR
16. Rico Jones, QB/ATH
18. Elon Grinstead, WR
20. Deon Anthony, QB/ATH
20. (tie) Travante Stallworth, ATH
23. D.J. Banks, ATH
25. (tie) Jordan James, WR
28. Terrance Johnson ATH
29. Tyler Glynn DB
32. Abrecus Martinez, WR
34. Javone Lawson, WR
34. (tie) Morris Claiborne ATH)

If he would update his list it may look different today, that was done on 4/28 and some things are different now. Not really in regards to Claiborne vs. Banks.. but jut the list in general.

Man, some of you just don't know. I'm going through 11 pages of posts but this is a good pickup. This kid has been tearing it up this year and hes been on LSU's radar since camp. He dominated camp. This guy will be a high 3 star, low 4 star by the time its all said and done on Rivals for you star gazers...
Great pickup, definitely a sleeper pick I totally agree with Miles getting. He has been mentioned a lot on other boards...

who was the last lsu player to come out of fair park.. ronnie prude?
Yes. Since 1990, LSU has signed three recruits from Fair Park -- WR/DB Ronnie Prude (2001), WR Reggie Robinson (1998), and LB Pat Rogers (1993).
Before 1990, I'm not sure how many kids we took from Fair Park, but I know that one of them was WR Wendell Davis (1984).

seems like a waste of resources when he's (1) a local kid and (2) a "no name" type
and he played the game while you sit your lazy arse in the stands!

i'm not talking about football. i'm talking about strategy. we weren't in any real competition with anybody worth competing with. this is like rocky D from last year in that we possibly pulled the trigger early

SFP, have you seen this kid play?
Posted on 11/12/08 at 7:56 am to thunderbird1100
Rueben Randle
Barkevious Mingo
Jon Bostic
Jarvis Jones
Christine Michael
Andre Debose
Devonte Holloman
William Campbell
JaMarkus McFarland
Jason Pierre-Paul
Xavier Sua-Filo (wouldn't affect this class I suppose)
So Claiborne could realistically grey shirt and XSF wouldnt count against this class. Allen, Loston, RR, Mingo and Debose are the likely candidates to finish things up?
Thats 22, with DBenton thats 23.
Im not questioning the guy but CMichael was begging to come here and CM > Claiborne regardless of star rating.

the people at the LSU camp said he tore it up. I mean, are they lying? Can they not tell if they're looking at talent?

He didn't send his videos out. He didn't advertise himself. Some kids fall through the cracks that way. It's been written that he's just now getting all of them out. Be it being prepared to try to get a scholarship or not knowing how to take steps to do any of that.....it didn't happen.
Bottom line is, this is absolutely judging a book by it's cover. But I guess that's what recruiting is all about. Bottom line is, none of you, not me, or whoever that hasn't seen this kid play can come out and say this is a mistake.

to add, if Rivals had more film on him and rated him at a 3 or 4*, people wouldn't be questioning this.
but the fact remains, how are you going to rate someone who you haven't seen film on?

If it means anything he looks just like Patrick Peterson in his picture on tigerbait.

one more thing....this is from someone that gets paid in the recruiting business.
Does anyone on this board know more than he does regarding these recruits? I can only take the word for someone who has seen the kid play. Not someone that is basing their conclusion off of what they see and what they don't see on rivals or scout.

Claiborne was supposed to had been bumped to a 3* in each of the last two ranking updates but it got overlooked. He's legit.....Seen him with my own eyes.

Oh No!! Lets all bitch and complain because EVERY SINGLE PLAYER in our top 3 (easily) recruiting class does not have offers from USC, UF, UGA, OU, UT, BAMA, and Miami.
This class is a failure, Miles can't recruit, he's in over his head.

They are amusing, aren't they?
I just love it when they think they know so much because they read somewhere how many stars are attached to a guys name, or they read an article. The coaches on the other hand scout their games, see them play at camp, and are looking for good football playing characteristics. Rantards is a moniker which is well deserved.
