once moffit gets ahold of him his 4.45 speed and kearse-like burst will become a 4.8 and a marucs spears-like burst

I just wish he wouldn't play basketball this year. Coach Sanders could easily have him at 240 before he gets to LSU.

i know mingo is a lock but does anyone else feel like he doesnt really fit our defense and would be better served in a 3-4 in a demarcus ware role? and sfp i think he will stay at olb unless we sign all star olb's that would just be no brainers to start over anyone on the team, right now ryan baker is the only one on the team or committed i can say is in that mold. if we sign jarvis jones, jelani jenkins, devonte holloman, or eltoro freeman that could be the other, and the only one of that group we have any shot at is jones

for the most part, those Ds don't really exist in CFB. the NFL takes 240-250 lb DEs from college and turns them into rush LBs in their 3-4 Ds. and for the record, saban doesn't run a 3-4 this year

What's our defense? New DC could run a 3-4.

LINK

Minter is a MLB

and its possible we could draw freeman and very very very slightly possible we could get jenkins but we wont, also if we somehow end up landing sam montgomery(possible is koenning is the new DC)then we have a great rush DE to play opposite aghayere

Mingo will be able to add about 30-40 lbs. very easily and will be one of the best DE we have ever had at LSU.

Mingo will be an LSU LB NOT a DE. Mingo is 210 lbs. Our smallest DE is Alem at 254 lbs. So to even be an effective pass rushing DE Mingo would first have to gain 40 lbs. Moffit is great but thats alot to ask for. And thats the minimum he would have to gain to even see the field on pass rushing situations. Pittman is our second smallest DE at near 260, so that would be 50 lbs for Mingo. Ryan Baker on the other hand is 213 and our bigger LB are at 240. That seems more reasonable for his weight range.

Mingo comes in at a position of need (LB). One where we need a speed upgrade. One where we need LB that can effectively blitz the QB and also cover in the secondary. I think moving Mingo to DE is a fun idea to toy with but at the end of the day he will be playing LB.

mingo will play at 245-255, he is 6'7" and has a ton of frame to fill out. if he can keep his speed with the weight gain he will be just ridiculously proficient as a stand up rusher, also remember that he started out at safety for WM this year(not very well i might add) but he obiously has some skill at zone coverage and run support

I really doubt this. He's too tall to play LB, and could be an absolute stud DE. Dude was all over the field against Barbe.
