This is probably going to sound stupid to most people or it might be too rant-y, but oh well I don’t care…

As a college football fan, I hate the #1 team. Obviously being an LSU fan has increased that given our past with teams like USC, Florida, and now Bama. But I know I am not alone. American fans always root for the underdog. Team Chaos is one of the most popular r/CFB flairs. I hate THE Team. I love the team that beats THE Team. I will remember the names of Tavita Prichard, Chris Davis, Cardale Jones, and Hunter Renfrow the rest of my life.

Why do CFB recruits not have the same mindset? Just once I would love to see that. “I am taking my talents to Auburn because I am good enough to be an NFL player no matter where I go to school, and I fricking hate Alabama. I want to beat them.”

Is the reality that they just aren’t really fans of college football? Most premier recruits see it as a stop before getting paid big time money? While they are there, they might as well win an easy national championship? Yet none of them want to say that… “I am taking my talents to Tuscaloosa because I’m probably only going to be there for 3 years, and its easier to win a couple national championships when you are favored by double digits in every game.”

It’s the Kevin Durant mindset of no self-pride. Why try to beat the team that wins, when you can join them and win a championship that much easier? Never mind the fact that they did it before you came, they could do it without you, and they will continue to do it when you are gone.

The ones that come from poverty, I get wanting to find the best path to get to the NFL and get money. But the reality is not that these teams make these players. These players make these teams. Just look at the NFL and all the different schools that are represented. It seems counter-intuitive, but I feel like the pitch should almost change to "I know Alabama is telling you that they produce NFL players, but you can go to any school. If you are good enough, and if you work at it, and if you better yourself, you will make it. We are recruiting you because we think you have that talent to make it... oh and by the way, we are saying that as the school that sends more players to the NFL than any other."

And when LSU one day becomes THE team.... Forget everything I just wrote

Well there actually is players like that. And we have/had a few on LSU's roster.. Devin White, Rashard Lawerence, Leonard Fournette etc.. These guys came to LSU to BEAT Bama. They were all recruited by Bama but came here to beat them. So give these guys credit.. They can't beat Bama by themselves.. Hell we could have 11 Devin Whites on defense and still couldn't beat Bama with the coaching we had Saturday

Literally a safety would have beaten LSU on Saturday.

First and foremost you have to understand, Saban is the best recruiter in the country and there really isn't anyone that close to him. So when you couple that with the fact he can say "come to Bama, get a good education, win SEC and National Championships and shows the hardware to prove it, and then go make millions in the NFL" that is a pretty hard thing to pass up when you are an elite player "which is all he recruits" who is used to winning and wants to continue that!!!

No chest. They know they get an easy championship if they go to a stacked team and would rather that then truly work for one at a different school.

Giant bags of cash change the calculus on that kind of reasoning.

If you are signed by the best- currently Bama- then you are validated as absolutely the real deal. I think that’s most of it.

It is undoubtedly easier to recruit from the top of the heap.
