It’s very simple. Derek Meadows is not straight.

This shouldnt have surprised anyone who has followed this recruitment. The premium board mods have said for weeks now expect a flip. He never once visited here, he skipped out on visiting here after saying he was coming in last weekend and the writing has been on the wall a long time for him. He went up to ND in November, he went over to Michigan as well then....didnt visit here despite being "committed" that whole time. We just gave him a bag and he shopped it around basically. Bama offered a bigger one and he never even visited there and just signed with them. This was all about NIL from the start with Meadows.

Honestly, this isnt the loss some might think it is. He has never performed in high school. He has 39 catches the last 2 seasons over 25 games at Gorman. There are plenty of better receivers out there. on3 dropped him outside the Top 250 in their last update. I suspect 247 will drop him a lot too now once they do their end of season update because the guy just showed very little in high school to warrant any kind of decent ranking.

He had 24 catches this season, he wasnt even the leading receiver on his own team as someone else had 25 and is just an unranked (2026) junior receiver.

TaRon Francis is a much better WR prospect than Meadows. People are just enamored with Meadows because he's 6'5 and originally had a high ranking.
