No way we get him, but I'd cream myself. That dude is freaky athletic. And they said it 50 times during the McD's game, but his motor is at 110% at all times. Needless to say, what we're used to with our big men at times, it would be a great change.

Newman has that alpha dog mentality. So he definitely doesn't want words put into his mouth. He could end up at almost any school at this point, imo. I hope it's LSU but he has to understand that he'll have to check his ego at the door and be ready to go to work every day.
That's not easy for a country boy from miss who's gotten the accolades Newman has over the last 4 years. But Tone has improved so much since this summer and is a better all around player than Malik AT THIS STAGE of their careers. Benny is an international sensation.
We definitely need a guy like Newman but he needs guys like Ben, Tone and the rest of the team far more. Those are are great guys that he can grow with that can help him become the whole package. Malik's a great scorer right now, but he's got a ways to go. Benny and Tone would help him tremendously.

As for the school he chooses- Calipari will demand humility and selflessness or take it out of Newman's hide. Howland and st will throw a bag of money at him and give him the face of the program talk. But the really special relationships for him will be at LSU. His advisors need to get it right.

The Cheick Diallo thing is very interesting. Haven't heard of any interest or contact between he and LSU before that but anyone that has an opportunity to play with Benny has to give it SERIOUS consideration. You can beat anyone with that kid on your team and we desperately need another highly effective big man.

A guy like Cheick does make perfect sense. If he's playing in the Jordan game it would be their 3 rd time together in a month

He does make sense, but I just can't see it. If we somehow get a McDonald's All-American that we started recruiting a month before signing day that Self and Calipari have been after for a lot longer, there needs to be a statue of David Patrick and Ben Simmons outside the PMAC
