or coaching?

the OL is the prime, "this is where les is an expert and he doesn't care about stars argh!" talk area

well, our OL blows

t-bob is not big or talented enough right now to play C in the sun belt

barksdale looks lost in the passing game this year

ci black looks like he's taken a step back from his freaking 2006 form

our Gs are not really good at anything

I think it's some of both. Black has always been overrated, but looks worse now.

He has the same problem that Herm had here, they are both overweight. (And yes, Herm was overweight. That's why he went late in the 5th round, and that's why he couldn't play RT here despite being 6'7". He lost weight with the Cardinals, and looked good in the preseason at RT.)

And yall may laugh at this, but how can you expect big guys like that to be in great shape when their position coach is 30 lbs overweight himself? Studwara looks like a tub of lard on the sideline, so how can you expect Herm and Ciron to listen to him telling them to lose weight, when he can't lose weight himself? Tennesee's offensive line lost weight this offseason, and they look better bc of it.

Besides that, Jarvis Jones got himself run off the team, and I'm not sure he wouldn't be our best offensive lineman right now. And we ran off Matt Allen, and he is starting for a Texas A&M offense that is doing well. We could maybe use Allen right now as well.

I wouldn't criticize Dworacyzk bc he really hasn't gotten beat much. Besides that, I'm with you, it's open season.

why? once you get a starting spot you have to absolutely suck to lose it under les

and even then, its' up for debate (see our 3 interior postiions)

McCray has been passed up by Brandon Taylor. So not totally true.

Am I the only person that thinks our blocking philosophy has changed this year? Where are the pulling guards that have been a staple of this offense under Crowton and Stud? We seem to be trying to be a zone blocking team...in the past we did a lot more drive blocking, and pulling and trapping. We did it a couple times last night, and looked good on those plays when we pulled the guard.

So far we look like a very bad zone blocking team. Like Ohio State the last few years.

you need zone blocking for the spread option

one of the 3-4 offenses crowton is trying to mix into his offense

Slo... scary how I was thinking same thing while watching the game. I think TBH has the technique to be competitive, but I think missing Helm & Herm was more impactful than Les & many fans care to admit.

LSU can not impose their will on cupcakes. I hate to call out Hitt and Dworcyk(sp?) but Hitt is not SEC caliber and Dworchk is capable but not ready. Black is not showing any Sr. leadership and his stock is plummeting. Ole Miss & Bama will give us fits. UF may stifle us, but it's their DB/S that will do us in!

The sad thing is Les gambled on "evaluated potential" vs. "evaluated talent." Recruiting one 3* OL after another has caught up with LSU. Our OL is not even PAC-10 quality.

Another stupid thread by idiots who never played the game, and think they know more than the coaches. Queens,it ain't always the coaches fault when players don't produce.
It's probably because teams don't respect the LSU passing game and are loading up to stop the run.
Often,JJ seems confused and is changing the protection or the play and running into the strength of the defense.
HOW MANY OF YOU "KNOW IT ALLS" EVER PLAYED ON OFFENSIVE LINE OR ANY POSITION FOR THAT MATTER?

LSU blocking needs to change. They block ahead only, where are the quick traps, cross blocking, counter plays, end around plus fake. Straight ahead blocking is only a start when talking about blocking.

Agreed. This seems to be the issue.

Considering the way Utah manhandled Saban's OL, we need to fire his OL coach also.

Keep up the good work.

This response is getting old. It is obvious (to just about everyone) the O-line is a problem right now. Instead of sticking their heads in the sand, some people are trying to figure out through discussion just what the problem could be. While SloFlo may be a giant buzzkill, his question regarding the O-line is entirely legitimate.

Several problems exist on the offensive line. The big problem is the olinemen are being taught to zone block versus head up blocking with pulls and traps. Next, Miles is getting away from recruiting bruising olinemen to the big 12 tall lanky olinemen that zone block and stand in your way. That will get your arse whipped in the SEC. Finally, evaluation of prospects need to improve. Evan Washington in the ESPN game a couple of weeks ago was horrible. His highlight film is awful. Washington was the last lineman on their team to fire off the ball each play. After he fired off the ball, he didn't hit anybody. Miles had a bruising recruit in OG Chad Lindsay that wanted to come to LSU and he and Stud dropped the ball big time! Say what you want about Lindsay but the kid is one badass offensive guard. If LSU is going to fix the OL, Les needs men that will go out there and knock the shite out of everyone in front of them.

So that makes you wonder about Cam Fordham. If he's going to be a center, he'd best gain 50 pounds.

It is possible, but what about the centers out there that are already 275 or so where gaining 20 lbs in a healthy way is much more sensible? Are they out there? Yes.
