What's the word on McKennas's injury? If she's out for any length of time, it's going to be very difficult to see any big improvement for the team. I mostly hate it for McKenna, though. After working so hard for the past year, it would be such a shame if she couldn't continue her comeback.

She had an MRI today and had a light practice. Very limited with the landings she took.

If she competes later on this week is up in the air. I'm confident its nothing serious but if she re aggravates something is what concerns me.

Based on whats going on so far after Sunday and Monday, it doesn't appear Bailey Ferrer will be used against Florida. She will continue to be a back up to Dean on bars which is concerning.

Not even 100% sure Desiderio will even be in the floor lineup. Campbell is likely to be on floor again.

Worried about consistency on floor unfortunately

This team is not at all what I expected. I thought the girls were really stepping up. Desiderio still looks to be in horrible shape and what the hell is going on with Ferrer? I thought she would be able to step in right away and she looked like she wasn't anywhere near ready to compete on floor. It didn't look like nerves, either, it looked like someone out of shape and unable to complete the skills she was throwing.

If they don't make drastic improvements this is a team who could find themselves upset at Regionals with the new format and certainly would be hard pressed to make the Final Four. I can't see them challenging UCLA, Florida, Oklahoma or Utah and that's just to start. There may be other teams that pass them soon enough.

I don't understand how Deans bars are better than Ferrer

Ferrer Bars

Dean Bars

Unless Ferrer is missing her release every day, Its not even debatable.

Desiderio clearly has the talent, she was a national team member for a reason but she isn't in shape and its drastically impacted her tumbling.

It's funny too, in fall it looked like she was in better shape coming back, but no longer

They would have Bailey in the lineups, if she were ready. I have NO idea how you go from having a great JO nationals meet in 2017 to not being able to step into lineups on a very thin team unless there was an injury that kept her from training.

I hate to jump to conclusions when we are just two weeks in, but several of these girls don’t appear to be in good shape. I’m noticing it more in the underclassmen. One in particular continues to be a huge disappointment because the sky is the limit. I was hoping that the physical health would have been taken more seriously in the off season, but yet here we are again even unable to compete now because endurance isn’t there.

Why isn’t Julianna backing up floor now?

Her back problems flare up sometimes. She is not 100%

They didn't even deal with her floor routine until late fall/December

And I agree with you on the physical shape. Look at Kayla Ross when she got to UCLA and look at her now

I hate to hear that about Julianna! I’m sure she would love to help the team out on floor if her back would allow her.

Ross and Ohashi are both great examples of what is capable with good condition and overall great physical condition. These girls have to commit to that though. It’s easy to see the girls on our team that have and those who haven’t.

Loved Campbell on floor last week! Is there any regret in bringing Ferrer in a early if she isn’t ready to contribute?

Also is everything alright with Edney? Her floor has been concerning although she seems okay elsewhere.

With desiderio does it seem to be an issue with her work ethic? For an athlete that used to be a national team member that seems unlikely but obviously things can change over time. Is there something else causing her to be so out of shape? She should be a shoe in 9.9+ on floor and even beam too but we are not seeing that.

I agree it sure would be a waste of a year of Ferrer’s eligibility if she doesn’t contribute much this year. It will be such a shame if this season doesn’t turn around considering the senior class.

I'd be pissed off if they brought her in not to compete. Entire purpose was to contribute immediately. LSU had zero additions for this 2018 class with the 2017 class still not completely healthy.

She has had some discomfort in her hamstrings but nothing that would be causing all the mistakes she has been having.

I don't think Desiderio will ever be a consistent 9.9 on floor until she gets into the correct physical shape. A lot of her tumbling has low chest positions, which she gets hammered for. Like I said, no denying the talent. She was a big time elite gymnast, she should be producing 9.9's on at least 2-3 events.

She also won't see bigger scores as the lead off. Erin Macadaegs scores dropped when she moved to the lead off. They may need to reevaluate that eventually. Edney at 4 in the lineup is getting hammered with her scores. Desiderio was getting those big scores in that 4 spot.

Ugh I pray they re evaluate the order of the beam lineup to move desiderio down but they never seemed to consider it with Erin!
Also I don’t see how bailey isn’t at least getting into the vault lineup. Any insight on that?

Regarding being in shape, is that mostly on the girls? Do they have scheduled/required workouts or do they workout on their own, outside of practice? Makes me wonder why other top teams don't have those issues. (or maybe they do, I just don't keep up with them)

I thought I saw several freshmen compete for Florida last week, in the little bit I saw of their meet. Is that unusual, or should most freshmen be able to contribute right off the bat?

I wish they would move Durante from leadoff on bars. She deserves much better scores. Why not put Dean in leadoff if she's going to be the weaker link anyway?

These are questions for all of you who are much more knowledgeable than I am!

I agree Durante would pull in bigger scores in a later lineup spot, though she does provide such a consistent lead off, which I’m not sure dean or harrold would provide, and that can really set the tone of the lineup. And other than dean and harrold, there’s no way there’s changing the final three of kennedi, Lexie, Sarah.

IMO for Bars, they need to move Durante to the 3 spot and move Ruby to the #2 spot and find a new lead off.

Ruby has a routine that is not exactly consistent to score high but Durante is pretty consistent with her execution.

She vaulted in warm ups against Auburn and looked pretty good

I hope we make changes against Florida because LSU is not beating them rolling out the exact same stuff as we have the first two weeks.

Campbell needs to be a permanent spot in the floor lineup moving forward. She has tremendous execution
