I'm not saying he is a bad player. He looks pretty good to me. I'm explaining why our ranking is barely affected by this.

Do I think he should be more highly rated than he is? I don't know. TE is quite possibily the hardest position to evaluate, just look at where all the recent top picks came from. I won't act like I'm smart enough to know what rank he should be.

Also keep in mind, the ranking algorithm is top heavy. If LSU has the top 32 players in the class committed, the last player (even though he'd be a 5*) would contribute very little to the point total because he is the worst player. I hope this clears it up.

When I posted we were number 1 in rivals. That's why I put the link. LSU had 2694 points according to rivals which was number 1 when I posted. 247 LSU was number 4 at time of OP.

For sure. Anyone who says Clemson CURRENTLY doesn’t have the best class is delusional.

Well, according to rivals, LSU currently has the number 1 class. But I agree, most of these recruiting sites are delusional!

Then 247 has him ranked at 16. He's 10 in the composite.

I was just commenting on Rivals rating of LSU’s commits.

If Clemson is not rated ahead of LSU then the beef is about Clemson’s class not being rated appropriately by Rivals.

And 247 LSU goes from 283 to 284. WOW?!?! 1 3 star is worth a whole point!

Jockeying Bama's position. We would be lucky when its all said and done that LSU will be in the top 15 with them.

247 is the better recruiting service and a better depiction of actual rankings.

Do you have an analysis showing this?

Anything including ESPN's ranking is suspect, imo.

Yep. ESPN is worthless. The composite would be better with out them.

See, and that's another reason I don't give a lot of credit to these ratings, they are biased to certain programs. I'm not saying they aren't worth paying attention to, but sometimes there could be 2 players who play the same position and are close in talent and the bama commit will get more points than the LSU or another schools commit. Players ratings change when there's been no new games or camps. CamRon Jackson was a middle 4 star last year when bama was hot on him. He commits to LSU and suddenly drops to a 3 star. Just saying there's times these services don't give accurate ratings based on who or who isn't recruiting them.

It doesn't make any sense that people who think that ESPN is trash, and Rivals is trash, think that a composite with the two is worth a shite.

It is pretty silly when you think about it. It's like taking an average of CNN, MSNBC, and Rassmussen polls for the presidential race. To be honest, I think Rivals has improved a bit over the past couple of years, but ESPN is complete garbage.

What that different evaluators don’t have the exact same opinions regarding all the measurables and tape. ??

Nah they are never that far apart. Lol. Composite is what many go by and maybe some are better or spend more time on recruiting than ESPN or whoever but imo It really is small margins of error that that make the difference from one sites team ranking to the next. If LSU stays in top 5 they will match talent with anyone. But a ton of other variables can change the final results. O seems to fit needs better than Les. Les may have had top 5 w/ no Lbers and it be a huge need. Time will tell I guess on all of it.

Bottom line is, bama has been rated 1a lot recently, and they've won championships. Uga has been highly rated, and they've been a cfp team, same with Clemson. It's really silly to discount these rankings.
Anything top 4 is where you wanna be. They're not perfect, but they're a helluva indicator

I agree. I just haven't see any objective analysis that shows the 247 composite is any more accurate than Rivals - yet it's promoted as the 'standard'.

I'd rather just use Rivals, because I've noticed that ESPN is usually WAY off, and any system that uses that ranking is suspect.

Maybe even just the 247 ranking would be better than their composite, it's just too hard to tease out of their site. Plus, I've been using Rivals since before 247 was around, so I'm just going with consistency over time.

and easiest to navigate by far. 247 needs a different and easier to read website

Agree. I was a member of Rivals for a LONG time. I loved the national board and ease of access to everything on the site.

I became disenchanted with the mods (Scarborough) who very seldom had information until after an event occurred. He had the uncanny ability to predict events as they occurred. Unless there was a good movie at the matinee.

After the site crashed on two consecutive signing days I finally said sayonara. I joined 24/7 but was only a member for a few months. I hated it. The info and mods were okay but I missed the national board and ease of navigation.

I still hate 24/7. I can't remember if it happened while I was a member but when I post a link to their site on this or the Tard board I always try to put a disclaimer that it is 24/7 to turn your speakers down. If that is just done to visitors it is cool.

If I was a member and got blasted by an ad every time I went to a site I was paying for I would be extremely pissed off. The ads should come on muted and not so loud it wakes up everyone in the office.

Do those ads play for paying members?
