LSU is a big time program now. We recruit nationally.

Stop and think about how many recruits we get out of state. If we spend all our time in state we don't get those guys. LA guys should definitely be our priority. What I'm saying is no one has a meltdown when we sign Patrick Peterson Sam Montgomery or spencer ware so losing 1 or 2 instate guys won't kill us.

Florida was even more pissed. They really thought they had him.

Not nearly as bad as our fans

I agree that alot of our fans (most fans in general) haven't kept up with the recruiting landscape. It is far more national than it once was. The days of locking down your territory are over. Yes, more kids will choose to play close to home than not, however you never know when these kids will make a connection to another school.

two 5 star kids to a conference rival team is what happened that is a tough pill to swallow no matter how you look at it

The program is in good shape. Some guys want to play for Les, and some do not. It depends on the kid, and the type of coach he prefers. Ask any of Miles' former players, and they say behind the stereotypes, he is a heck of a guy X and O guy.

If we get most of the 6-7 5 star guys we are after then that pill will be a lot easier to swallow

not applicable to many who post here....which kinda' makes you the exception.

truth....it won't kill us but it just sucks hard when we lose them to our "best ole ex-friend" Nick.

Way things are today, we want the very best talent we can get. what state your recruit currently resides in is less important than their ability to fill a need and contribute to LSU success.

Meh, I'd say we lost 1 5*. CRob is not replaceable. Hootie signing with Bama sucked but he's being replaced by someone arguably better. And there's no guarantee we would've been in as good a position to pick up Adams (assuming our lead with him holds) if we sign Hootie.
Time is a finite resource. We can't get everyone we're in the running for, even if they're in our home state. No major winning program bats 1.000 in their home state.
Spending more time recruiting one kid invariably means there's less time to spend with another recruit.

I put that on the staff for not having an ace recruiter there

Some people are pissed because Alabama has taken a few recruits out of Louisiana, but does it really matter where they come from when you can recruit nationally? Auburn is beating us in state this year, but we have a much better overall class. Bama and LSU are both killing it in recruiting this year, as always. I expect both teams to stay at the top of the SECw for the forseeable future.

If LSU can pull the top 15 players for from Louisiana and get 10/11 elite players from out of state(East Texas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and the midwest), we'd be sitting pretty. Louisiana is the top priority but Louisiana does not alway put out top players in certain positions.

Yes it matters. We pride ourself on being a team primarily made up of Louisiana athletes or guys with Louisiana ties. Being a Bama fan you wouldnt understand.

Look at NE Texas- we have the potential to steal 3- 5* in Adams, Paris, & Brown. I wonder if UT & A&M fans are melting down?

Yes I am a Bama fan. Some of us are reasonable folks. I have great respect for your program and your coach. I don't post that often, just read mostly. I would also prefer to take all the top in state guys. I understand the pride thing as well. But, as long as we keep bringing in top classes, I'm not complaining.

I wouldn't call Beaumont NE Texas
and Paris isn't really a Texas recruit; he's a Katrina transplant

Well, at least one of you is.

Me either. I can't speak for the other TD recruiting board folks, however, nor would I want to.
