RECRUIT best QB's in NATION. See Ala. and Clemson for proof. Ala. has 3rd string QB that could start for LSU - same for Clemson. I just read where Clemson released 5 start QB from his scholarship so he could play somewhere....

For years this has been issue w LSU "taking the next step" to being championship team. Having a great QB should be a top PRIORITY over every other position!

Hopefully w ENSMINGER on board as offensive coordinator (and past QB) things will change. Good luck "E." Here's to you and the Tigers moving forward!

Oh yea to my fellow RANTERS - I've been told I have a strong grasp for the obvious..... this should be more proof!

Travel everywhere. Look at mark Richt- he convinced a kid to move 3000 miles away from home. Things didn't turn out as planned, but shite happens.

I have news for you; LSU has been recruiting the top qb's. we have even signed some (harris and Brennen for example). hell, no one recruited more top qb's than kevin sumlin. he had TOO MANY on staff and they all wanted PT or they were gone.

lsu's problem has certainly been qb performance but the WAY WE USED OUR QB'S has been the problem. add to that BH just couldn't do it on game day even tho he was a top qb and had all the talent in the world.

miles was a run, run, pass guy at the end of his career at LSU. it worked fairly well with mettenburger because we had landry and beckham but chavis had pretty much destroyed our defense by then. we have not had a good passing team since then.

in order to have a good passing team, while the qb is the most important, the wr's, the OL and the coaching and play calling ALL must operated as a team. a breakdown or major weakness in any of those components spells doom for the passing game.

sorry, it's just not as simple as you are making it out to be.

Very true. All quarterbacks look bad if they aren't protected

Agree.

Zach Lee

Gunner Kiel

Hayden Retig

Ryan Perriloux

Brandon Harris

Russell Sheppard

Jordan Jefferson

Were all highly rank, talented QBs we recruited. Things didn’t always work out. But we’ve always recruited highly ranked QBs.
Brennan and Lowell should change all that. Let’s hope.

If you think we don’t recruit highly ranked qbs, you’re an idiot.

Put your LSU fan bias aside.. Serious question, would you want to come to LSU if you’re a qb?

Not one of those QB’s on your list would have played a down at QB for Georgia, Clemson, Bama or any other Top Tier Program. You might not want to hear that but it’s a FACT!!!

Ryan Perriloux would of been a star at any of those schools.

Zach Lee would of been a starter as well

What you posted was most definitely not “Facts” more an opinion.

And do you want to name the last 10 Bama QBs?

Also the thread is about recruiting highly ranked QBs. My whole list was highly ranked. Thus the “they didn’t work out”
Those QBs just didn’t pan out, doesn’t mean they weren’t recruited by us or the other “top tier” programs you mentioned.

Dude, the last 5 Bama QB’s have National Championship rings. Are you really that dumb? Perrilloux couldn’t start at LSU and you want us to believe he’s gonna start at a program that is light years ahead of LSU. You embarrass yourself.

Ok well i was agreeing with you until you said that Perrilloux couldn't start at LSU. Now that statement was just dumb or you are too young to remember.

1. RP was a freshman in 07 and sat behind Matt Flynn as LSU won the National Title. RP also came in and won the sec champ. game when Flynn was hurt.

2. RP got kicked off of the team prior to the 08 season.

So yes RP would have definitely started for LSU had he not gotten kicked off the team before his sophomore season.

Step 1- raise the damn recruiting budget to upper 2-4 in SEC

The other steps become easier

Uh....I was at the 2007 SEC Championship game. You weren’t. So, no I’m not too young to remember. Does the name Jonathan Zenon ring a bell? And, 2 INT’s in the last 10 minutes of the game by Erik Ainge had a little bit to do with the outcome don’t you think?

And not one them turned out to be quality qb's I mean really not one of them. If you think LSU has recruited quality quarter backs I have some land in Florida for sale. Really

They were quality QBs until Les Miles got a hold of them. He immediately neutered each and every one of them. Made them deftly afraid of the turnover. Had each of them playing scared. Each of them was never adequately developed under Les “Play scared and not to lose” Miles. A QB killer.

Does the fact that Ryan Perriloux won the MVP of said game ring a bell?

Based on the response the consensus seems to be that the LSU brass is actually recruiting top-tier QB's. The problem is they don't make it happen in college - for whatever reason. I like the dual threat QB that can keep the defense honest and run when nothing is there or when there is opportunity to run and he can make the defense pay. Etling was o.k. but could not outrun anyone. We get a dual threat QB running the show w some smarts we should be good.

I was there as well. RP 5 star #1 dual threat qb in the nation...I promise he would have started at any school in the nation. Promise

Does anyone think RP would have been kicked off
team at Bama? Lol I think not. Everybody thought Miles was a idiot for kicking him off team

Went on the JS “As a senior, Perrilloux was named the 2009 Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Year and was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award â?? the FCS equivalent of the Heisman Trophy. He ranked first nationally in passing efficiency and set single-season school records in touchdowns and total offense. He would eventually earn his bachelor's degree in Sociology from Jacksonville State.”

I agree, but it seems to me that Miles really only wanted a DT to be a Pro that could get away from the rush. If we recruit DTs, we should have plays for that. I hope Coach E really will build the offense around the QB.
