'Member when Khalea Turner was at Riverside as an 8th grader and looked like the next big deal in Louisiana basketball?
Yeah, I member.
Well then he transferred to Curtis and played alongside Malik Morgan's little bro.
And then he transferred to Findlay Prep to play with their loaded roster of all stars.
Then he came back to the NOLA area and was at Helen Cox for a year (supposed to be his senior year, I think).
He did not sign with anyone in the last recruiting cycle and has now re-emerged at New Hampton, a prep school somewhere in New England. LINK
This kid's transcripts are going to be a mess for whatever poor basketball school's admissions office is in charge of interpreting them. For all his moving around and rumors of attitude problems, this kid will probably still go to high major school. It's amazing how long this kid has been a name on the recruiting scene, and apparently his recruiting story still isn't over.
I predict he transfers at least once in his college career. Safe bet when you look at his HS transfer history and the current trend college basketball. I know I'm not going very far out on that limb.

Looking at some '15 and '16 recruits jones missed from Louisiana is really depressing. Dejon Jarreau is Umass' best player already, his stat line against ole miss was 25-8-6. His teammate Gresham was only a partial qualifier but their coach said he's looked really good in practice, especially on defense and rebounding. Jacob Evans's is the best player on #24 Cincinnati's team and lastly Robert Williams is getting 20mpg at A&M. That's almost a full starting lineup of legit players from our home state. Is a shame we can't even get half the guys we want out of our backyard

These guys are being recruited by coaches who are rather from baton rouge or surrounding areas. Just because kids grow up in the state doesn't mean they like that school more. Kids go where they know the coaches best and have come understand on how their going to get playing time and to the next level. lastly a lot of parents want their child to get out of Louisiana for a better future.

LSU should have a leg up in this on instate kids. No reason guys like Jarreau shouldn't have been a priority since his sophomore year.

This isn't completely true. We aren't missing most of these kids because they don't like LSU. We are missing them because we have a piss poor program and we are being out recruited. There's no reason we should be missing on top recruits to Umass, even though I think there was more to it than being out recruited.

You ever ask yourself WHY they went to UMASS? It's not like they went to another school in the south and we just didn't offer.

They chose UMass because they were one of the teams that wanted both guys and they started receiving heavy interest from UMass in the 10th grade. That's 2 big factored that jones should have and could have offered, along with the selling both guys on the notion that they can start as freshman or sophomores

JJ picked Wayde and Skylar over Gresham and Jarreau.
Too soon to say if that was the right call but both Mays and Sims look good early too.

No partial qualifiers in the SEC, so ... negative.
Gresham was never a take.
It was Mays over Jarreau; Sims over Williams.

Any word if LSU is recruiting him? Also, whatever became of Morgan's brother? He was supposed to be a legit recruit.

I just looked up Turner's school and Jimmy Boeheim, yes Jim's son, plays there. He's 6-8.

Was Bridgewater not a partial qualifier? We also had several football players partially qualify.
You say Simms over Williams, but a walk on who never sees the court has the 13th scholarship.

We took Skylar over Jarreau, but Williams was a Texas kid. If we could have got him we would have, but he wanted to go to college in Texas. Jarreau ain't worth what UMass paid.

LSU doesn't take partial qualifiers. Not allowed by the SEC. Bridgewater was a unique case that I don't think had ever happened. He appealed a score and there was some issue with his appeal and by the time they settled it, he was already enrolled and they let him stay.

Jarreau is basically their best player. Or against ole miss he was.

They planned on adding another big in the summer but it didn't work out. Williams I feel like was long bound for A&M.
It was Mays and Sims over Jarreau and Gresham. LSU wanted Jarreau but he was a package deal and they didn't want Gresham.
Mays and Sims are gonna be excellent four year players. Wayde is very underrated.
