Have you guys read Kirby's bio? Memphis native, worked at MSU so he knows the SEC. Former asst at Houston and even SLU. I always wondered why LSU didn't seem to recruit Memphis. It's just 4-5 hours up I-55. Kirby gets you into Memphis with strong connections in Mississippi and even Houston. If he's LSU bound it's a homerun hire for an assistant, huh?

Charlie Leonard is from Memphis and coached college and high school there. Johnny coached at Memphis as well.

Pollard is announcing next Friday. I dont know if it is too late. He loves Kirby, though. Georgetown is a finalist because of him. If it weren't for the distance, he would likely go there.

Sounds like a huge hire, but I'm not getting my hopes up with Pollard. It's just so late in the game, but I hope it happens would be a great get.

I know Trent was on Pollard for a while. Did he at least get him to show for an unofficial during football? Something like that plus this hire could make a huge difference.
I think we at the very least have to all the sudden be in the mix. Kid wanted to go to State if they hired this guy. Then makes Georgetown a finalist cause of this guy.
Obviously I am living in a dream world, but it is so refreshing to see us trying to do things in basketball for once as opposed to sitting back and hoping we land some players and only hiring our coaches former players as assistants.

Robert Kirby is reportedly in Little Rock at the Real Deal at the Rock, which is one of the biggest AAU tournaments. He is wearing LSU gear.
