I'm not saying who is better or who is not, I'm just saying I can see the logic. There is really not much reason to debate it. The season will be here soon.
Yeah, I can see the logic, as well, but I just can't bring myself to get my hopes up. This is as apathetic as I've been towards LSU bball in my entire life.

hahaha, you're right. Man I wish you wouldn't bring up Ludwig's name. I might have said Dotson was terrible, but I liked him and wanted him to do well. Ludwig is hard to watch.
I really think we'll be better. Storm wasn't healthy last year and that hurt us a lot. I'm hoping our PG play is better and it should be, and with Turner at 2 we are pretty good, and I have high hopes for O'Bryant and Hamilton. I don't really like White but he's a big body that can contribute. Again, Green showed me improvement from game to game so it's hard for me to see him go, and obviously Dbeck was a quality player although he isn't quite SEC caliber in my opinion. At this point I'll keep hoping until they prove my wrong b/c I can't quit pulling for them to do well.

Yeah, Derenbecker is not going to be a star in the SEC, but he was one of the 3 best players on our roster last year.
I do agree that having an actual point guard will help, but we're again counting on a frosh to run the show. It worked with Torris surrounded by studs, but we all know he wasn't the most talented point (JUMP) guard in the gym.
I bring up Ludwig and you bring up White... Bunch of debbie downers in here. I don't know, maybe having some other size with him will allow White to stop fouling long enough to warm up.

White was good for about 10 minutes a game. The other 10 or 15 he played he was horrible. Hopefully, Hamilton will be good enough that White will only have to play the good 10 minutes.

At least he won't be trying to play center most of the time. Or at least I hope he won't be.

i don't think any of this analysis matters based on what i saw last season. i don't recall ever seeing a team that was as physically weak. i can't count the number of times the ball was stripped out of an lsu player's hands which was so infuriating. lsu looked slow, didn't dive when the ball was loose, was weak going to the rim, lazy passes. just weak. it was astonishing and perplexing and hard to watch. you may not have kentucky or kansas or unc talent but AT LEAST hustle and give 100% out there. when they did, they made a good game of it like against memphis.

Hey Bubba i was looking at Jarmal Reids profile and he has an impressive offer sheet for a 2* prospect, also saw that at one point he was a 4* LSU shows interest but know offer.

He is a 3-star on Rivals. I think I just had his info wrong. He looks like he should be higher ranked, based on the stories and evals I have read.
Well, I don't think LSU is a player for him, so it doesn't really matter.

Bubba, how many small forwards do you think we'll pick up in this class?
Posted on 8/23/11 at 9:40 pm to Bubba Hotep
the reports that I read on Reid is that he is a banger that can also knock down shots consistently from 3pt range, sounds like a ricardo gathers type of player but with a better skill set maybe trent should offer him

That's about the same eval I had. I don't know how many SF LSU will take. I think it depends on skill set, are they a 2/3 or 3/4?
I think they would take one of each.

Or he could be Tim Bush....

Bowers also seems to have a similar game.

hawkins has a nice offer sheet

Javontae Hawkins is definitely a player. Does anyone know if we have a legitimate shot at this guy?

Trent Johnson could very well be considered one of the best LSU coaches ever (top 2) if he can survive the current obstacles.
There is a reason he has been coach of the year in more than one conference.
Nevertheless, he didn't get the in-state players he needed to get.
Derenbrecker, despite what anyone says is a big loss. Not neccessarily because of talent, but skills are contagious; and having serious athletes surrounding players like Derenbrecker (AS A SENIOR) is how your win. Think Don Redden old folks.
I know Trent simply let the teamn play through some of their beatings last year.
Players don't truly work on their weaknessess until they get their arse beat because of them.
Immidiately after a season ends, a coach will finally see his players working with their left handed lay-ups, free-throws, dribbling skills, ect. I know Hickey is on the way, but watch how much better last year's PG will handle the ball. These kids weaknesses aren't exposed in high school.
As long as coaches are yelling at players- you suck. Once players are yelling at players- you have seniors and you probably win.
Look, he intentionally took one on the chin and rebuilt with freshman. But that was two years ago. Last year the team started 3 freshman, despite two not being ready, and we couldnt overcome it. HE WAS SUPPOSED TO DO BETTER LAST YEAR; BUT HIS PG CALCULATION WERE WRONG Derenbrecker needed a year of weights and our PG wasn't one yet.
This years talented and deep frontcourt will turn things around. We are unquestionably better at
Center (added one, and gained experience)
Power Forward (added one, and gained experience)
Small Forward (gained experience, lost one)
Point Guard (added one, gained experience)
Give Trent time. He isn't a great recruiter. In today's basketball landscape that might be good. BEWARE OF A COACH WHO CAN RECRUIT
Tis better to have a program that does it for you.
Last year's team didn't establish that, I think it will change.
go Trent

Thanks. I wish there was more information to post, but LSU has been very quiet on the recruiting front. Lots of names out there, but no information that I can gather. No visits set, etc. Strange.
