Below is a scouting report I found on Sheldon Jeter. I am trying to verify if LSU is still recruiting him.
quote:
Sheldon is a 6-6 to 6-7 small forward out of Beaver Falls HS in Beaver Falls PA.
He currently is rated as 82 with two stars and number 72 SF in his class by ESPN,
Sheldon's more long than explosive off the dribble, but can still create some because he plays low to the ground. His athleticism comes out more in transition than it does the quarter court right at the moment.
Weaknesses:
He has a long and lanky build, and a frame that must fill out but is skilled on the perimeter with a soft touch off both the catch and the dribble. Defensively, he still needs to establish a position for himself.
Bottom Line:
Jeter is a skilled forward who plays primarily on the wing right now but could develop into an ideal face-up four if he can stretch his frame a couple of inches.

Dirty Sanchez
According to 247sports, which I don't fully trust, LSU has now offered Monroe College (New York) PF Orlando Sanchez.
Why don't I trust them? First of all they are new. Secondly, they list him as being from Monroe, LA, and going to Neville High school. He's actually from the Dominican Republic and assuredly has never heard of Monroe, LA, or Neville.
He is a preseason JUCO all-american candidate and considering that Malcolm White is a senior, and Hamilton will be a senior next season, getting some upper-classman depth on the inside would be good.

In case anyone is interested Gathers will be playing Tony Parker's (5* center) Miller Grove team tonight at 7 central. You can watch here:

Gathers told Jerry Meyer of Rivals yesterday that he has offers from Duke, N.C. State, Florida, LSU, Cal, USC and Baylor.

“I want to be with a winner,” Gathers said Friday. “I want to be with players who compete and play as a team.”

Anybody seen the non-Seniors big men at Scotlandville? I went to their game vs. St. Aug. this weekend and there is a 6'9 or so skinny big who I believe isn't a senior. Kid can jump, has some moves. Not sure he is LSU quality (depending on age/year) but certainly one to watch.

Yes, see above 2013 thread. They are both juniors.
Give us a report on all the players for both teams. Surely you took good notes, right?

Will type it up later. Actually did pay close attention to some players. Also going to the Riverside vs. Scotlandville game on Jan 7th @ Southern @ 5 (after the SU vs. Grambling game). I'll make sure to take better notes.
Quick analysis:
St. Aug.:
Felix - Very good leader, no taller than 5'9.
Victor - Donkey. 'nuff said. Will play where-ever he wants.
6'4 SG - Solid player. Think he is a Sr though, not LSU quality.
#14 - Athletic monster off the bench, needs to add weight, not sure of class.
JV: Some real talent including a 6'6 post player.
Scotlandville:
There are a couple kids who are guards, can handle the ball and shoot lights out.
The big Sr: Looks to have lost some weight, still not athletic, hedged and played position defense very nicely. Physical as he pushed Felix around on the hedges.
6'9 Jr off the bench: real deal athleticism but seemed to lack game knowledge or any skills other than jump and shoot over you.
Cleveland: Showed no range or skills other than trying to dunk (ULL may regret this decision to offer).
I mainly watched Felix/Victor in this one. Felix isn't close to as good as Hickey in my opinion. Similar players though. Victor can flat out play.
At the Riverside game and when I watch Scotlandville play some teams from LP, I will have in depth reports on the players (names, numbers (jersey and stats), etc.)

Thanks. Regarding Felix, I think most people should understand the Felix situation with LSU when watching Hickey this season.

Left Coast Recruiting
Story about new 2012 target Nate Guy.
Story about new 2012 target Nate Guy.
quote:
Hard work and dedication is starting to pay off for Guy. College coaches have noticed what the guard is capable of.
“I have interest from Washington State, Purdue, and LSU. My coach talked to Coach Romar (University of Washington), so he is showing interest as well.”
Guy has hit the road already to check out one University. Plans are in the works to check out a couple more.
“I already visited Washington State. I am in the process of setting up a visit to LSU and hopefully Purdue.”
quote:
Guy is an intriguing guard, who seems to be a late bloomer. The Lakes Lancer has the ability to create his own shot and get it off over opposing players. With a nice frame, Guy can finish at the rim with contact. On the defensive side Guy isn’t too shabby either. He has the ability to disrupt the passing lanes due to his long wingspan.
Posted on 12/19/11 at 2:57 pm to Bubba Hotep
Felix: Yeah, he seems a bit of what we already have.
Guy: Yeah, he seems a every bit of what we don't have yet vastly need.

Yes, Guy looks like an intriguing prospect. He is ineligible this season, I think because he is too old. He just lost an appeal. So, there is no additional evaluating of him, except on film.
Felix, I won't lose sleep over him and I predict he won't last at Texas. He will be a transfer casualty to somewhere like Tulane.

Felix is a NICE player, but give me Hickey. WITHOUT QUESTION. That seemed to be the decision that staff made as well. Felix just doesn't have the explosion Hickey has. He's a heady player, though, and if he could coexist with Hickey, I would love to have him as a backup.
I want Guy badly. We need a player like Guy.
A class of Guy, Morgan, and Gathers would be awesome.
A 2013 class of Jarrell Martin and Brian Bridgewater would also be nice.
We need to find an heir apparent/backup for Hickey, though, within the next two recruiting cycles.
