Something in my gut tells me that Romero and Guidry end up on campus for some reason. Feel like Romero will be the type of person to slide just outside the 1st round and he will bet on himself to get up into the top half the 1st round.
Noot I feel is probably going to end up going in the draft. Hopefully I'm wrong on that. Snelling will all depend on how fast he can gain traction with scouts. Unfortunately mid 90s from the left side is rare to get to campus. Kennedy is interesting because of things he has said that makes him seem real interested in coming to LSU.
I am feeling more and more confident in Kling getting to campus. If he ends up passing on the draft and LSU can land Kling, Ruddell, and Mic Paul in this class for OF we will be in really good shape for the next few years with the OF already on the roster and adding those 3.

The new MLB top 150 has 12 commits ranked in the top 145… unreal

Kling reminds me so much of Leto who matured way too early for his "top high school ranking years ago". He's actually pretty low on my list of players I think sign.
If I had to put money on it now these are the guys I see signing.
Crawford
Shores
Toman
Neal
Snelling
I do agree the staff is very much in both Romero and Guidry's ear about playing time immediately and I think that will sway at least one to campus if not both.

I had him on my mind when I was typing I meant to put Neal.
This class is too much to comprehend compared to Mainieri's skeleton frame classes.

Ah, gotcha.
We don't seem to be going after any JUCO catchers. There aren't any pre-portal names floating around either. I wonder what kind of development has taken place with Priester and if that is giving the staff a level of comfort with the catcher position next year if we miss out on two of the HS recruits.

catcher is an interesting position moving forward...assuming we land one of Neal/Jones to campus
Milazzo
Travinski
Priester
Jones
Frey (I assume will be more of a DH/1B)
Lots of options in this group, especially if Travinski can develop defensively with contact and Priester.

Yea there's multiple option's on paper right now. I think there will still be time post draft to hit the portal before fall semester if things don't work out.

Not sure if I quite agree with that. Leto’s issue was he was looked at as a middle infielder early who can hit. Then his body got to big and he lost range to be in the middle infield so I think that is what cause his stock to fall. Kling, if the rumors are correct, is basically making it known he wants to go to college. That is what is making his stock fall I think. He definitely has all the tools to compete for an OF spot next season if he makes it to campus.

Kling is probably more similar to Crews being a guy who’s biggest question mark going into the draft is if he can hit consistently. I think Crews struggled the summer before his senior year and that put a dent in his stock. He was obviously also hell bent on going to college so he didn’t even give teams a chance to pick him.
I see Jones as a Travinski type player. I’m not sure if he will solve anything for us behind the plate. I’m interested to see how Frey is defensively.

I agree that Crews is a better comparison than Leto. Kling isn't quite Crews level coming out of high school though. Kling is that middle type guy between Crews and Pearson. Kling is better defensively than Pearson for sure. Pearson probably has more consistency at the plate with Kling having more pop. Kling can also steal bases with the speed he has. If I remember right in the 6 games he played for team USA in the 18U team he had 2 HR and 4 SB.

Baseball America updated and expanded their draft list. Snelling debuted at 76 I think. Romero and Guidry dropped, Toman rose. Jones dropped. A lot of stuff in line with what we've already been thinking/discussing.

Snelling is becoming a pipe dream. He’s got a ton on draft steam and the last few article I’ve seen on him makes it seem like the draft is priority #1 for him. Kind of sounds like Carter Jensen last year.

Another thing to consider is that draft and follow is back for MLB teams. It remains to be seen how many are going to take advantage of it and how it will work with bonuses. But teams can draft a kid and if he goes to JUCO he has until the next draft to sign with the team. With the shrinking of the minors, there is some speculation that teams may do this with fringe guys to see how they develop after a year in JUCO rather than sign them and have them in their complex not getting playing time.
ETA: Which is to say, any guys committed that are leaning pro may flip to JUCOs or guys that get drafted that we thought were coming to campus may switch to JUCO to keep their signing option open. I don't have any names in mind, but it's something to watch out for in general.

I posted my thoughts on each position group earlier in the thread, none of the draft rankings have given me reason to change any of my opinions yet. Check back maybe 6 or 7 pages. The infielders were the first group I did, and I did like one group per page after that.

We usually do decent. We knew going into last year that we would lose the top of the class. I don't think we lost anyone unexpectedly, we just had some late hope on a few guys.
It's definitely list update season. Perfect Game updated their list last week but I don't have access to it. MLB yesterday, BA today, ESPN today. Waiting to see if FanGraphs updates theirs soon. The Athletic put their first one out just about a month ago, so they may not update this soon.

We usually do decent...I guess I mean relative to what Vandy and UF end up with. Feels like they lure over 5 highly drafted guys every year and our top 3-4 guys always sign. Would be nice to just luck out one year and end up signing 3 of our top 5 arms and have a catcher slip through and make it. Baseball god luck type of stuff lol

The transfer portal will start to get rolling in a couple weeks when the semester ends for a lot of schools. The guys that are already on the way out of their team and aren't playing will hit the portal then.
The guys that are still playing but may be at schools with coaching changes or are planning on leaving but still have games will hit the portal when their season ends.
We may be after guys that fit in both categories.
