Looming O-line Depth Issue

With the signings of Clapp and Brumfield, LSU will have only 11 scholarship offensive linemen for 2014. Collins, Porter, Washington and Fanaika are seniors, which means LSU will be left with only 7 scholarship offensive linemen heading into the 2015 recruiting class, assuming Vadal and Hawkins don't declare for the draft.
As a result, it seems to me signing two more offensive linemen in this class would have been helpful. If Derrick Kelly does not sign, then LSU will have sign at least 5-6 offensive linemen in the 2015 class and will be headed into 2015 with zero experience among its reserves.

Kelly will not be signing with LSU. He has already informed coaches per twitter.

Good thing we are about to add a 5* OL for next year, and maybe his 4* cousin
But yea, I agree. OT was a major need, and it appears that we just couldn't close on one.

@DellengerAdv: .@Sheadixon is reporting that Florida OL Derrick Kelly Jr. won't be signing with #LSU, picking Florida or Florida State over Tigers.

Unless there is a new one, that was a hoax.

Well considering Kelly's last tweet is "#GatorNation" I dont think he's picking LSU OR FSU

The older brother in this class is a DE. The younger brother is a 5* OT, and the cousin is a 4* OG

Wait, now my first comment is back on.

I still don't expect him in this class. But that twitter account was confirmed as being a fake.

So his official Twitter page is an unofficial page?

You're absolutely right and it's pretty scary to think that Stud didn't have anything lined up. Usually when a school changes OL coaches before signing day it might cost them a couple guys who were listening or on the hook - but that was not the case here. Stud simply had no one listening or on the hook. He got Brumfield and Clapp, one a legacy and one literally on LSU's campus, then completely packed it in.
Stud would have just stolen some of Brick's dline recruits to fill in his spots.
Grimes will bring in a big class next year and I wouldn't be opposed to some JUCO help either.

I think both Miles and Grimes will solve that problem.

Stud had Kelly lined up. We lost ground on Kelly after Stud left

Which makes Cam Robinson's decision even more puzzling.

Three first round OLs in a draft, its not that confusing at all

It's a real concern. We are looking at a mass exodus on the OL after this season. The silver lining is that the guys who will be left are all looking great.
It may turn out to be a blessing in disguise, depth can be recruit repellent and its Grimes' show now. I'm fired up to see what he can do with playing time to offer big names he's known to pull.
