Obviously there was Shawn Murphy who committed to Bama, and Harold Perkins who looks to be an A&M lean. Haven’t heard much about anyone besides those.
Super excited about Demario Tolan, but we definitely need to land at least 2 in this class. Who are some of the top targets at the LB position for coach Baker besides those few?

I don't know if we're actually after him but David Bailey out of Mater Dei seems like a good option to me. 6'3" 220 lbs
David Bailey 24/7

Unfortunately nobody knows looks like LSU is going all in on Perkins like they did Leigh last year.

24/7 mentioned some kid from Florida but he only his best offers are Pitt and WVU.

Blake needs to deliver

That was the talk around the same time we felt super good about Murphy.

Zero chance. He's locked in with uga and he's literally best friends with Nick Chubb

People on our side said Perkins was leaning LSU’s way as recently as last week. What’s the deal now?

It's starting to become more valid.

I actually like lathan but he is small for a linebacker

A&m is talking about perkins making a commitment video. I doubt that is true but he obviously likes a&m.

Wonder who else is on the board at linebacker

That’s a like a pick in fantasy football and somebody picked your two choices on a list and now you pick the next highest rated player on the list. That’s not happening he staying on West Coast, but it would b great if he gave us a look.

Surprise, surprise- Magician spouting out the positivity. Just because a kid is good friends with a former player doesn’t mean he is a lock to the same school.

Nevertheless, please continue on why it will never happen, or whatever other rays of sunshine you got for us on this topic…

He’s probably right but he keeps rehashing it over and over. Obviously it’s a bad position to be so reliant on landing one player.

Is ‘literally’ appropriate usage here?

Just curious how a current HS SR can be best friends with an 3-4 year career NFL RB. That’s a bit of a gap there.

ETA: after the fact I see red beat me to the point on this obvious misinformation.

True he attends same HS as Chubb, probably even knows him, best buds ? Really. Of course Perkins is the real deal . Travious Lathan from Miami is being closely monitored by Baker. He super athletic, just a little light in the pants. Hopefully fills out, very good instincts. He has recent SEC offers, ours if green lighted.

Chances are good we lose Jones, Baskerville, and Damone after this year. I sure hope we pull Perkins. If it comes to it there's always the portal but I hope the guys already here don't get ripped new assholes like the OL backups---before they ever see the field for more than Special Teams. The Coaches know who has the ability but what's between the ears dictates PT when all else is equal. Does Dellinger grasp the schemes better than Ware? Will Penn have a better grasp than Bug?

Unfortunately they have whiffed miserably at LB. Some due to evals , then a bad hire, mixed with some bad luck.. I truly think we have a really good LB coach now. But a 5-5 team coupled with Baker building relationships to players in Miami s wheelhouse, not LSU s wheelhouse hurts for this year. Not Baker s fault-he pretty much new the studs wouldn’t go to the Canes. Now he can approach any kid Nationally with the LSU brand standing behind him. Fortunately the portal has given us the best it has to offer last 2 years. That is not sustainable.

Perk is a game changer at LB. I really don’t want to see him go to A&M. Hopefully he loves our recent LB tradition and lack thereof at A&M.

At least 1 of those 3 doesn’t play a lot this year and whoever that is, has a great shot at starting in 2022. If Bugg comes back, that’s a lot of experience along with some talented young LB’s in Sampah and White who will have 2 years of college football under their belt. Plus Greg Penn and Tolan who are very talented recruits. I’m not worried yet about LB depth.
