Kids that make a spectacle of their recruitment.

Does it EVER work out for LSU? Do they ever pan out as players? I don't remember LSU EVER landing one of these post-early-period 'sweepstakes' kids. Seems like the more of a spectacle a kid's recruitment is, the less likely it is to work out well for LSU, and the more likely they are to be busts. Last year it was Burch and Evans, before that it was that Sopsher kid from Amite. Gunner Keil...

I think it has worked out quite well for LSU with some of these guys. Risk avoidance is good for an enterprise.

We don’t win the MNC without Ryan Perrilloux.

Why do people forget about all the top recruits to come thru LSU every time some kid does something extra during their commitment?
We have been very fortunate.
Most recent example is Maason Smith. I mean he had a To be continued video made prior to committing. If we’re talking about extra.
Didn’t Rashad Lawrence have some crazy video too.
Maybe I reading what the OP is referring to the wrong way.

(And btw, I do think we do quite well landing top recruits.) But every year there seems like there's always one or two that LSU chases beyond the early signing period - who string along multiple schools, attracting drama like flies to shite, piercing the conscience even of fans like me who pay almost no attention to recruiting. This year, that kid was Tristan Leigh.
I know nothing about Maason Smith except that he was a highly recruited player who signed along with everyone else in December. Meanwhile, Tristan Leigh drama has been tweeted in to my timeline over and over again in recent weeks. As for Rashard Lawrence, I don't remember his recruitment. Was his a "sweepstakes" 4-part recruiting mini-series? Maybe he's the one drama queen that worked out well for LSU?
