Jeryl Brazil, an amateur amateur analysis

Watching his clips on Scout.
-Only one criticism: Whomever listed him at QB, was just screwing around. He looked like he was trying to shotput the ball.
-One thing jumps out at you: SPEED SPEED SPEED
-Defensively, he reacts really quickly. Good ball instincts and fluid movement into and out of his breaks.
This kid could develop into a starter at WR or CB. All depends on where the coaches see him.
Really excited about Jeryl.

Needs to play tougher. Avoids contact too much and doesnt finish runs well enough. Other than that he's a freak athlete with great agility and speed. Hoping he's not another Seastrunk.

Sort of building on that, I see him as a great corner. He has truly elite speed and coverage seems like a great place for his skill set - especially that reaction time! Wow! His speed would be amazing on offense, but I honestly prefer players who were dedicated position players to end up that way in college - it takes away a part of the learning curve that can really hurt guys who are used to playing CB/QB/KR like so many of the great athletes of the last decade or so. Otherwise, a redshirt is the best course to let the man really completely buy in and take control of the position.

I want him returning everything kicked or punted.

absolutely,do you think he'll be a lockdown corner like i do?

I love players like that.

He looks like he's got great potential at cb. I have to see more from his senior year to consider him the next great corner. But the kid has talent and we have the best cb coach in the country.
His speed is going to be a great asset

IMO We have enough guys in the secondary. This kid needs the ball in his hands as a scat back/ slot receiver type

obviously we'll have to see how he progresses, but the raw tools look like a prototype corner to me.with cooper here,i have no doubt he will learn great technique.

I've always assumed CB myself but with all these wr/db type athletes some of them are going to have to play on offense. Be interesting to see who plays where once on campus.

Way fast, but too small to be a lockdown CB...

Too small? Patrick petersons don't grow on trees.

Greg Reid was supposed to be too small, too. I agree, I don't question his size, I question his physicality. He shys away from contact, and that thought it supported by high school refs that called his games. I think WR, like Ryan Broyles, remember the special they did on him about hating when people touched him?

I know this is alittle late but just got unbanned
This kid has great ball skills and a real nose for the football. reminds me of #7 on our team now
Kids got blazing speed and think he will be best served for him and this team to play CB. if they want to get the ball in his hands then let him return kicks
He has the talent and ability to step into the TM7 really nicely wants TM7 leaves
really hope we leave this kid at CB

Brazil is currently 5'11 185 lbs and getting stronger and faster during the off season.

what's ur relation to him?
Posted on 2/9/12 at 12:49 pm to secretsquirrel
Since when is 5' 11" 175-185 "too small" for a CB coming out of high school? This tends to be pretty typical for top DB prospects being considered at CB.

Coached him when he was younger and see him almost everyday. Has always had the talent to beat even the older kids around him. He doesn't let this go to his head. Not a problem in the lockerroom but a leader...
His goal is to become a "role model" for the kids in his community.
