Is there any info on this kid out there other than "he is the top prospect in Mississippi and likely to go in the top 3 rounds"? When you google him, links to td.com pop up.
How big is he, likely pro/college position, etc.
Thanks

JaCoby Jones 6'2" 210
Richton, Shortstop
Considered by most to be the state’s top prospect, the versatile 5-tool senior batted .575 as a junior, with 22 doubles, 5 home runs and 34 RBIs. "JaCoby just has such a competitive nature and such instincts for the game," coach Brandon Davis said. "He's pretty much baseball all the time."

Kid has started for his HS team at SS since 7th grade. He has a rifle for an arm, can hit 94 on the radar gun. Shoulder problems from a football injury has kept him from pitching much this year.

He's more around 6'3 195. GREAT athlete, as I was saying in another thread he's not as polished right now like Cecchini but in 2-3 years everythings going to "click". He's been as high as 2nd round projections to 6th round, however is only considering signing for no less than 1 million.
Jacoby's a 2B/SS.

Hes not going to make it to LSU's campus...so does it really matter? Its almost a sure thing.
I think hes even openly said that LSU is on the backburner. At least hes not using us as a bargaining chip like someone else that will go unnamed.

Im from south Mississippi, and have a friend who coached against Jones this season. He said the Richton HS coach told him he would be very surprised if Jones wasnt drafted in the first 2 rounds of the MLB draft and he said if the money was right he was going to sign. I think it would be different if this kid was from Louisiana or a life long LSU fan, but he isnt and thats why I think that he takes the money and signs a pro contract.

If I had a nickel everytime I heard a highschool coach say that.

We will certainly have a better feel for it in a couple of weeks. I am guessing from what I have now read that he is gone, but you never know. At some point, LSU has to get some luck with these high round picks.

1. That is the case with just about everyone that will be drafted.
2. Boras is his advisor so the money is probably going to have to be better than "right".
